Unfortunately what you see is not what you get.

Impressed with all the beautiful photos posted outside the coffee shop I managed to convince my hubby to have dinner after church service this evening.

Both of us are clams lovers. We wanted to order fresh bamboo clams or Live Canadian Geoduck Clams but unfortunately we were told by the waitress that they do not have these two items for the time being due to the Seven Month Festival or even longer period. Who knows!

Though this restaurant is said to be very popular for their King Size Crabs dishes, we saw only four big crabs in the fish tank. My hubby discouraged me to order the Crab Bee Hoon Soup which will cost S$88.00.

(1 ) So called “Pan Fried Live Oyster Omelette” (Price S$24)

Therefore we opt for Live Canadian Oysters instead. We wasn’t very sure about ordering the fresh oysters so we end up requesting for King Size Oysters Omelette. We were told that one big oyster would cost S$6.00. We don’t mind paying for fresh huge oysters but when the dish was served, the "not so fresh oyster" is only slightly bigger than the ones oysters we get from any “Or Luak” (Oyster Omelette) stalls at the Hawker Centre.

See photo below.

Paid S$24.00 for this plate of normal oysters instead of Giant Oysters.

We felt very cheated. Once bitten twice shy.

(2) Pan Fried Fragrant Pork Ribs with Signature Sauce (Price S$10 for small portion)

The six pieces of medium size lean meat not pork ribs coated with coffee sauce. There is too much tenderizer added to these pieces of meat which makes the texture too soft. This dish should be called “Coffee Pork Ribs”.

(3) San Lao Hor Fun (Price S$8.00 for medium portion)

The gravy of the Hor Fun was too starchy. The Hor Fun are stucked together and gravy too watery. The taste of the fish slices are bland. Thank goodness there is muddy flavour taste.

Anyway this is our first and very last time we would patronize JE Crab Specialist @ Tampines.
