This yongtaufoo store is similar to many other stores in singapore. What makes it different is that ntuc cardholders gets to enjoy the food at a cheaper price! ($0.30 cheaper). If one orders 6 items, it's usually $3, but ntuc cardholders pay only $2.70!I like the wide array of vegetables the store boosts! I like the wide array of vegetables the store boosts! They even sell those items with fish paste in it, and most of it is handmade as i saw the storeowner stuffing the fish paste into some items (eg. bittergourd, brinjal, tofu with fish paste on it, etc.) infront of the store, means it's quite fresh! Furthermore, the restock rate is quite fast as the yongtaufoo store seems to be one of the store with queue during peak hour! I like the soup as i can taste the yellow beans very well. The vege are also very fresh without any yellow-y parts. Although i avoided the fried stuff this time round,
the store also gives a separate bowl for the fried items so it doesnt get soggy if it's dipped into the soup!
One minus point about this store is that one of the employees doesnt seem to be very hygienic. There was a fly flying around the items and when i told him, he just shrug it off and ignored it, allowing the fly to continue landing on some items. EEW. I hope he isnt always like that and luckily, there's other employees around who may are more hygienic than him.
Overall, the fuss-free and relaxed environment, with it's clean and white-washed walls makes one feel right at home there! There also seems to always be a few old folks chatting away at an adjacent table, very hawker-centre-ish but it adds to the liveliness of the place!
