If you ever shop to Tanglin Mall, you probably won't be able to miss this Italian cafe franchise that is supposedly very popular in Australia. Though I've personally not heard of it before while I was studying in Melbourne. Anyway, it's located right beside one of the escalators that you need to take from the basement carpark to get to ground level. The cafe's interior looks like one of those traditional Italian eateries with tiled flooring and walls. Like a typical Italian joint that you would find on the streets of Milan, don't expect much from the service. My experience with Italian service have been usually very curt and straightforward.

We ordered a Smoked Salmon with Poached Egg Salad to share. The poached egg was rather well cooked and the hollandaise sauce was quite refreshing. It went really well with the saltiness of the smoked salmon.

They also had a high-tea promotion going on. For just $9.90, I got myself a cake + coffee/tea set. The cake selection that they had was rather impressive. There were a lot of interesting flavours that I would have liked to try out. Well, in the end I ordered a Dolce Amore ($8) - strawberry mousseline with strawberry confit and coconut sponge. The cake is designed to look just like a strawberry and I thought it was rather cute and unique.

The texture of the cake was smooth and soft, and the flavour of the strawberry was really strong! It was a little too sweet for my liking, but it was good to pair it with a cup of Latte. I usually don't add sugar to my coffee so the sweetness of the cake went really good with the bitterness of the latte.

I'm not exactly a fan of macarons but my friends wanted to try some since they had quite a wide selection of different flavours to choose from. So we ended up taking the Strawberry Macaron, Vanilla Macaron and Tiramisu Macaron. Quite frankly, Macarons all taste the same to me. Sweet. Nutty. And crumbly. If there were macarons dipped in dark 85% chocolate, then that would definitely be something I would love to try!

Lastly before we headed off, I got myself a Dark Chocolate gelato from the takeaway counter. The gelato was awesome. And the chocolate was extremely thick and rich. Just the way I like it. =D
