A posh restaurant situated in Pan Pacific Hotel with wonderful japanese garden and koi pond along the walkways to the restaurant.
The interior is divided into dining areas, sushi counter and robatayaki counter.
I went to the sushi counter as i prefer to see the fresh sashimi displayed in front of me as well as the japanese chef skills when he sliced the fish or make the sushi. And of course the fishes here are fantastic melt in your mouth types and its not only because of the freshness or the location that it is imported from but also because of the way the chef sliced it making it crunchy when you bite into the sashimi. The taste/quality and feeling is just simply different from local japanese sashimi.
I had also ordered from the robatayaki counter the bamboo shoots in season. The foods to be cooked are all displayed in the big bar counter and you tell the chef what you like and he will take a big wooden flat thing to scoop the food like the one people use to take pizza out from the traditional pizza big burning chamber! This Japanese bamboo shoots which i ordered is a seasonal item therefore we could only find it in upmarket japanese restaurant and it is just plain charcoal grilled and its very sweet and crunchy.
