The quality of Japanese food here is seriously good and value for money. I didnt really want ramen coz my bf loves it and since im dining with my friend i can 'escape' his ramen whining. Tampopo specialises in ramen and uses black pig in many of its signature dishes. My friend took the beef Nabeyaki curry udon-- think curry gravy
I have heard soooo much about Tampopo.. and seriously after this visit.. i really wonder where have i been.. lol. The quality of Japanese food here is seriously good and value for money. I didnt really want ramen coz my bf loves it and since im dining with my friend i can 'escape' his ramen whining. Tampopo specialises in ramen and uses black pig in many of its signature dishes. My friend took the beef Nabeyaki curry udon-- think curry gravy with beef slices and potatoes in a sizzling curry gravy on a hotstone claypot.
I try to not eat too much fried food but when i look at the delicious pictures on Tampopo's menu... and the crazy array of black pork katsu dishes they have (such as the tonkatsu stuffed with cheese and foie gras!!).
And even though i dun love pork but i found the pork in the Katsudon i ordered so juicy, tender and succulent. The egg was also left runny so that it wasnt dry; loved that it was not too salty as well You don't even feel the greasiness of the tonkatsu. There are soooooooo many yummy things to try I think it is one of my top Jap restaurants for the moment. =)
