This was actually a gift from my relative who dropped by our house last week. He got this box of tarts from the outlet in Middle Road. These are not the ordinary egg tarts that we all know and are familiar with, but soya bean curd tarts. Yup - instead of using egg, this cafe uses soya bean to make the custard, making this a healthier choice of tart. The custard, being made from soya bean curd, is much lighter in colour as compared to the normal egg tart. The taste is really good - it is lighter tasting and the custard is so smooth - almost as if you are eating bean curd, but this is the more flavourful version of it. The crust is more biscuit like instead of flaky which is also suitable given that the custard is already very soft and wobbly. The biscuit crust holds the custard and gives it a more firm bite. A box of 8 for 5 of us is not enough!
