It is not easy to find a decent and affordable cafe even with all the new shopping centres that claimed to be foodcentric along the Orchard Road belt. Isn't it ironic? Raindrops Cafe is a great place at the supposingly youthful but deafening quiet *Scape. It's a ray of sunshine for those seeking a cheap and quick meal. We ordered the Portobello with Chicken ($8) and were totally sold by the beer-battered mushrooms. It was especailly tasty when eaten hot! My only gripe was the pseudo balsamic vinegar tasted too sweet. It was similar to black sweet sauce and very unliked vinegar.
Chicken Leg Lemongrass with Pumpkin Risotto ($16). I love the Thai-influenced dish and the lemongrass marinate was delicately obvious. The chicken was akin to a huge portion of satay but much more delcious as very tender thigh was used.
Crispy Salmon with Asparagus( $17). Sadly, the fish could be fresher but grilled vegetables were well-done. However, the portion was huge so it is good for healthy but hearty eaters!
Mascarpone Mousse ($9) is actually just Tiramisu. It is not the best in town but good enough to round off a meal!
