My drinking buddy has been encouraging me to go to Shuffle but I also shrug off his advice till one day we decided to head there after dinner on a Friday night, seeing as how the night is still young. My favourite band, Paraphrase plays there every Friday at 11.30pm. Before that time they had normally be at Beer Market from 8.30 to about 10.30-11pm.
When we dropped by, we had to wait for a while for seats, and we had to shift twice. That’s the thing about Shuffle. They are always packed with people and they don’t seem to accept reservations after 7pm. We were first seated outside the main area and while waiting for seats there, we ordered our drinks. Then later we were shifted again and we remained there for the rest of the evening. (Thankfully) But I do appreciate that they try to give their “early bird” customers the better seats in the pub as the night goes on.
My friend and I ordered a tower of Kronenbourg Beer ($80 for 3 litres of beer) and Waffle Cheese Fries ($12).
The fries came with melted cheese (drools) and minced beef on the side. This is preferable because for those people who do not take beef, they are able to avoid the beef altogether since it is not sprinkled atop the fries, like some other restaurants.
The tower of Kronenbourg Beer came in an Eiffel Tower which is quite pretty for a tower if you ask me.
I really love the ambience at Shuffle and the live band – Paraphrase, that starts playing from 11.30pm onwards (on Fridays). Before that time, there is another band singing a mix of Chinese and English songs.Shuffle has since been a favourite hangout of mine to head to for after-work drinks.
