Making the effort to keep the cups warm by placing them on top of the espresso machine, the warmth does not last if you are planning to spend some time in the great ambience setting doing your projects/homework/assignment/meeting clients.
Making a great coffee also depend on the skill of barista, which I have seen that it has deteriorate across the years. A great coffee is not so great anymore when Coffee Bean tries to turn it into a "FMCG" industry.. where they simply rush cups after cups and the service of smiling is no longer there. I'm quite particular when it comes to paying more than $2 for a cup of coffee, not only must there be quality coffee beans, I'd expect a value-added service from the Baristas as well!
So recently The Coffee Bean (or maybe few years back) added '& Tea Leaf" intheir name.. can you imagine how weird is that? CBTL came out with a expresso machine.. I mean if they thought that this short abbreviation is gonna push their brand awareness, they should seriously put some thought into summarizing the once-so-beautiful-branding of theirs and rethink the marketing strategy.
Is it just a cup of coffee? No. Not many people knows that Coffee Bean is the first company to make the Ice-blended drinks (thus if you see, no one can actually use the word 'ice blend' in their menu because it is copyrighted). But who knows now that they are the ORIGINAL ice-blended therefore surpassing all tastes of ice-blended drinks? Other coffee companies make it sound more tasteful with words like frappe or frappicino.
It's not just a coffee. To executives and students, a cup makes a whole load of difference.
Taste: Milky and powdery when cold, too sweet when hot and produces a lot of phlegm if you drink one whole cup for yourself.
Service: Too rushed, does not feel like a customer
Ambience: Great ambience.. good use of colours of maroon chair against brown background.. but the chair seems rather dusty/dirty. Wonder how often they wash it!
