Never quite knew about this place till my mom suggested it one day. It sounded really unfamiliar to me but that thought was immediately overridden with, "hey why not?" and yes hence this review. It's All About Taste is found on the same level as the main lobby of Ibis Hotel. It's All About Taste is found on the same level as the main lobby of Ibis Hotel. With an open concept and 'many mirrors everywhere' decoration, the ambience is actually praisable-worthy. A restaurant whipping out local delights such as popiah, chicken rice, fried hokkien noodles, black pepper crab, char kuay teow and the list goes on. All in really small portions, allowing you to be able to taste everything served. They came in 3-course, 4-course and 5-course.
Coincidentally, the night we were there was also the last night they were having a promotion of '1-for-1' under uob. That made us happy and we came to a decision to order a 4-course.. so with the '1-for-1', that means we had 8 dishes in total.
I remember us ordering the chicken rice, sambal stingray, satay, sweet and sour pork, nasi lemak, popiah, chili crab and black pepper crab(1 pincer piece each only). Well.. the food turned out to be alright, edible and properly cooked. In short, barely passable. It lacked the flavor and smell in most dishes. Though the many varieties wowed me, I couldn't help but to 'just eat because my stomach was rumbling'. I suppose if I've to vote, the best among those 8 would be the sweet and sour pork as it wasn't too oily at least.
Good customer service nevertheless! All the dishes were served together at one go, to me I feel that way is more polite. Dinner was worth a try(one-time).
