Porridge Paradise
2014-03-20
Was walking along liang seah street when we decided to make a turn to Tan Quee Lan Street and found Porridge Paradise. So i suggested to my colleagues that we can dine there as its a new eatery. Was able to get a table in 5 mins as we went after lunch time to avoid the crowd. We asked the waitress whats good and she suggested the curry chicken, assam fish, prawn paste chicken and the porridge. So we went along with her as its our first time there! And for the verdict:Curry Chicken:Its so good and i find it better than Toast Box's. Less i expected it to be so tasty! Its spicy and creamy! And its very good to go along with rice and bread(they are bringing in bread soon).Assam Fish: Taste can be comparable to those that is sold at Zi Char! Prawn Paste Chicken:ITS SO GOOOOOOOD! The chicken wings actually 'burst' in my mouth, thou its deep fried but you can taste that the oil they use is fresh oil and its not too oily. Just the right amount of oil!Last but not least, 3C Porridge:3C porridge consists of:Green Porridge(Minced Pork Porridge): Pandan Leaf and Basil - Boost ImmuneYellow Porridge(Prawn Porridge): Pumpkin and Sweetcorn - Acts as an AntioxidantRed Porridge(Shredded Chicken Porridge): Red Yeast Rice and Ginger - Lower CholesterolMy colleague and i both agreed that the red one is the best! Tasted bitter at first but when we took our second mouth, it actually became sweet! And my boss prefer the green one and the yellow one. But something i must agree with him is that the prawns in the porridge is really fresh! Conclusion:I would probably try out their noodles as i saw alot of other customers ordering! Worth the trip and the calories!…Read More

Late night energy boost!
Hong Hock Eating House
2014-01-20
Truly a restaurant for drinkers and pub goers around Chinatown. As this place closes at 7 am and they even do delivery to nearby pubs! All you have to do is just call them and you will get you food delivered to you. And my fav food has really got to be fried hokkien prawn noodles,so  I went ahead to order the hokkien noodles from this restaurant. And it's awesome! Might not be as good as those famous one, but it's really considered good for late night supper/ energy boost!…Read More

Gathering
Hong Hu Restaurant
2014-01-15
With great variety of food choices, My girlfriends and i always hold our steamboat gathering here at honghu! And its always the laksa soup base and chicken soup base a must for us to order. Laksa Soup: You can taste that the Coconut flavour isnt from those powder kind but its really coconut milk, and the spiciness can be made according to your liking. Of my gf and i always go for the spiciest! Chicken soup: Normal nothing just about it, but its just there for us to wash off the spicy feeling from the laksa! And another thing is, honghu always offer sambal chilli prawn for us, the consumer to eat! And its not those watery ones, but those chilli crab kind. There even mantou for you to dip into!Drinks are free flow and price are reasonable too.…Read More

Ye Zhi Mei Handmade Dim Sum

Before tang's market has an stall that sells Amy Yip's Pau, the only place i know that sells authentic Amy Yip's pau is Jalan besar( its just for me, doesnt mean or imply anything or that other stall do not sell authentic ones)The reason why i like this outlet Pau is basically because the pau doesnt 'dry up' even i leave it on the table for the next day consumption. As I've bought it to share with my colleague the next day. The pau still remain juicy and tender, even the outer skin doesnt need much heating up. Thou we heated the pau because the filling is cold already, but is you are ok with eating it with the cool filling, then i think it means NO RE-HEATING REQUIRED!The filling consists of pork, chicken, egg and some ham bits? i dont know if its luncheon meat, spam or just some bacon cubes but its just so good!would re-visit the outlet again. …Read More

LADUREE
Ladurée
2014-01-15
Basically i'm someone that i cant live without sweet treats and it ranges all the way from sweets to pastries. And my favourite treat has always got to be macarons! Especially the ones from Laduree. The shell of the macarons are thin and crispy and its chewy as well. Thou its a alil too pricey, but its totally worth the price for this kind of equality! On the side note, only laduree macarons can save my change my mood from sad/ angry to happy!…Read More

I've always been a fan of yong tau foo and of cuz it's the soup that makes it nice. Normally I will always go for tomyum, because I have this mind set that the normal soup will be tasteless! But nevertheless, i still went ahead to try their normal soup as my colleague said that it was good! And indeed, the soup did sent a punch down! Ive never tried a Yong tau Foo soup that was so sweet before! To sum it all up, it was a fulfilling lunch and i will definitely visit the outlet again. …Read More

Five!
Five Izakaya Bar
2013-12-16
Have always been a fan of this joint, and my usual hangout place would be at the cuppage outlet but it just so happen that i was around changi area so my friend suggested that we try the changi branch one instead of travelling all the way down town!So I realised that this outlet is kinda different from the cuppage outlet and even the food serve is different! Which made me disappointed as i expected the tortilla chips to be on the menu. But anyway this is what we had that day!Instead of the tortilla chips, we order the nachos with salsa and cheese dip. I would say i still prefer the tortilla chips! The nachos tasted like any regular ones that we can buy off shelve, not only that, the salsa dip tasted like just tomatoes in tomato sauce! Something i would never order again!Next was the japanese garlic fried rice which taste very much like glutinous rice! I always like my rice to have more garlic, i think they could use more garlic the next time round. So we ordered sides to go along with the rice, first up was the deep fried oyster and then the yakitori platter came. The oysters tasted okay but i presume they had used frozen ones instead of fresh ones. Like common sense who would use fresh oyster for deep frying, too much work and too costly.YAKITORI PLATTER was delicious! the sauce is soooo good. As i always like to go for the chicken balls first, and from there i would judge whether is it good or not. And this platter really left me speechless. BEST FOR THE NIGHT. Needless to say much, you just have to go down and try it for yourself!Lastly, is the pizza which i didnt eat! But anyways this is the picture of it!…Read More

NaNa Thai Food
2013-12-09
Never really a fan of thai food, or rather the only thing i like about thai food would be tomyum soup! But NANA THAI FOOD prove me wrong! Was there with a friend of mine that is crazy over thai cuisine, so on the safe side, she went ahead with the orders! First up was the papaya salad with raw crab! yes you hear me, raw crab and surprising its really good. The flesh of the crab was slimy but sweet! Didnt realise that the crab was raw till my friend asked to try it. Second dish was cockles with chilli (lots of lots of chilli) which i didnt manage to take a photo of it as we were to hungry that i forgot all about it! Taste wise was normal, nothing different from the 'hum' we get to eat outside! But its really good when we added the 'sticky noodles'Last up will be their prawn congee! Come to think of it, what we had for lunch really sounded like a mini seafood feast! As for the taste of the porridge( i call it porridge because its the watery kind, somewhat like teochew porridge), it has a very teochew kind of fish porridge tastes. In addition, the prawns was really fresh!…Read More

The cafe/ bistro that never sleeps!
Mr. Bean's Cafe
2013-12-03
As what the title says, Mr bean cafe is a place that never sleeps. Serving food and drinks anytime/ any day. Its a place that never fail to put a smile on my face! Went there a couple of days ago with my friends for supper and drinks. As we didnt want to have just the ordinary bar snacks, so we decided to head down for a proper sinful supper.First on list will be the mushroom soup. As for the taste, seriously i would say i will rather make do with Campbell soup. The flavour of the soup only came out when i added excessive amount of pepper and Tabasco, which made the soup more of Cream Of Tabasco! Rather disappointed!Second up will be the steak and the sausages. Im totally in love with the sausages! its has those kind of crispy outer skin which to me is considered a premium sausage! The outer layer skin of the sausage is crispy! Come to think of it, how many of us actually do get the chance of indulging in these kind of sausages on a daily basis? THUMBS UP!And as for the steak, we ordered it medium rare(like most of us do) and it turn out to be bloodier than usual but i still like it as i like the bloody taste! And to be shared will be the garlic bread, chicken wings and onion rings! Nothing special.*chicken wing always tastes better when u have the 2 bone in the middle removed and then eat it as a whole:mad:Anyway, to sum everything up, its always nice to have great friends together eating good food together isnt it?…Read More

Vietnamese Baguette
NamNam Noodle Bar
2013-11-20
Its always crowed at Nam Nam Noodles Bar, especially during lunch time! So my colleague and i didnt had the chance to try the famous baguette that people was talking about! Only till yesterday when the crowed wasnt that pack than we had a chance of getting a table. We went ahead to order our individual bahn mi. I ordered the tofu and the fishcake bahn mi.Which tasted really good! At first i was having doubts on what i just ordered as we dont normally match tofu and fishcake with bread! Fishcake is the normal fishcake but its the tofu that make it special, its coated with some sauce which i choose to believe that its their homemade sauce. Somewhat like thai chilli but alot sweeter and savorier Along with the main ingredients are Chinese parsley, shredded carrots/ radish and cucumbers. Condiments are on everyday table for customers to mixed and match to their own liking! Would definitely visit the place again to try out more Saigon delicacies. …Read More

干捞拉面
Hong Hu Express
2013-11-18
I've never like my noodles to be in soups, so i will always/ or rather go for the dry kind. And i particularly like the 'ganlaolamian' from hong hu express! I reckon it might be the china kind of bak chor mee!Simple as it can be, its a dish that you can have for lunch and or dinner! And it will keep you yearning for more( trust me) Brought my mum to try the noodles ( she dont normally eat food that she haven tried or eaten before, so i have to force her to eat this) we both had the same thing. And to my surprise, she actually like it. Filled with minced pork bits in the 'ganlao' sauce which is poured over the ramen noodles and finishing off is 2 deep fried wanton and Fuzhou fishballs! Thou i would rather they wrap the wanton with more filling inside but nevertheless i still enjoyed my noodles! Their Fuzhou fishball is delicious. Basically, Fuzhou fishballs are fishballs with meat inside. And i dont know is it the nature of fuzhou fishballs or its only this stall, i could actually still find soup inside.(somewhat like xiao long bao)To sum it all up, 干捞拉面 is a noodle that you can never wrong with! (just for me)…Read More

Ladies night
Azucar
2013-11-16
Was at azucar with 2 of my friends the other day. As we heard that it's a new open restaurant, we decided to give it a try! The ambience was nice with dim lightings, which made me really comfortable! So we were ahead to place our order, and to my surprise, the head chef actually came out personally to introduce the menu to us!  As usual, being a super fussy eater, my friend wanted carbonara which isn't in the menu, and the chef agreed to make it for us! (Something I feel that restaurants should adopt! ) He also mentioned that the buffalo wings are good so being a typical singaporean, yea I ordered !After waiting about 15 Mins for our food, the service staff told us that the restaurant is having ladies night, and that I will get 4 free cocktails(:. That really makes my night a perfect one! Overall I'm very happy and statify with the service, and food! …Read More

Chicken and Beer buffet
Chicken Up
2013-11-13
What can be as good(sinful) as Chicken Up when they offer not only Beer buffet but also chicken buffet! Chicken Up is a Korean restaurant/ bar located around tanjong pagar area. Brought to you by Koreans bringing you authentic Korean feast.Went there with a Korean friend of mine, as she said that the boss was friendly and she feels at home whenever she patronize the place. And i was surprise by the ratio of Koreans to Singaporeans in the restaurant, there was obviously more Koreans. So we went ahead with the Beer and Chicken buffet, frankly speaking, i was never into eating fried chicken when im out drinking. But my friend insisted that we order the combo. Indeed i didnt regret and ended up ordering more than i can take it. The chicken was just so good. What happens when Korean meets Korean; it only means that there will be more food on the table! The boss actually gave us food on the house which gave me a very good impression of the hospitality of the place! …Read More

Messily Delicious
Beach Road Scissor-Cut Curry Rice
2013-11-11
Never judge a book by its cover. As all Singaporeans know, beach road scissor cut scissor is famous for their messily nice curry rice with overwhelming sauce being poured over. Be it having it at the stall itself or tabaoing it back home, their rice is a must for me (comfort food).Had it tabaoed for dinner yesterday, leaves me yearning for more! As im someone that doesnt really like fried chicken wing so i went for their chicken cutlet, deep fried prawn, egg and of cuz their chap chye. Accompanied by the 3 usual sauce, yea only 1 word umami! Egg was normal, chicken cutlet was up to standard and my fav would be the deep fried prawn. Its my first time trying their prawn but i guess i really do like their prawn batter better than any other prawns ive tasted before. Its like the chinese style for prawn tempura, our way of eating it soggy with the curry and all the other sauce on it. Would recommend to do take away as the rice would be submerge with all the goodness of the dish! …Read More

On the hunt to find the best hokkien mee.
Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee
2013-11-05
Generally a Hokkien mee lover and am on the hunt to find the best hokkien mee in town (personal preference). Tried Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Fried Hokkien Mee at ABC market for dinner yesterday. Just the queue itself was already 20 mins! People packing packets and packets of hokkien mee in front of me. And personally i like their idea of packing the noodles in those brown colour type of paper as it will retain the broth and the moisture of the dish. The Noodles: Their noodles is not much like the kind of Hokkien mee i like( the wet type) but this stall is amazing as their noodles is the soggy kind which i dont get to eat it after my secondary school years! The beansprouts is basically so soggy that you dont even have to chew on the sprouts to swallow! Another point i like about the noodles is that they use thin been hoon instead of the thick bee hoon that most of the stalls in singapore uses. As thin bee hoon would absorb the broth better compared to the thick ones, so it will somehow 'burst' when you chew them. The Chilliefinitely one of the best chilli i have tasted for hkm. The stall owner actually fried the belachan with 'hei bi' before serving it. As the saying goes; good things are worth the wait. …Read More
