$14 Fish and Chip Cali Cafe review
CALI, Park Avenue Rochester
2016-02-11
We order the $14 Cali Cafe Fish and Chip and we waited a whopping 45mins for it and the worst part is the food was not served in sequence. I am very sure me and my friend order our food first (the cashier even key in infront of us as we order direct through the cashier not waitress) follow by 2 other customers who came in later and they order their food later then us. Guess what, they are being served first. I observed for a while and 2 Ang Moh customer whom came in later then a table with Chinese customer and guess what. The food arrive first for the Ang Moh customer than the Chinese table customers. Both are paying customers. Not a single smile from the Indian supervisor (not surprisingly). The waitress is cheerful but over all service experience is a combination of food waiting time and being served in the right sequence to avoid biasness. To me this restaurant totally fail in their service. The food arrived and there was nothing special to be honest. The fried fish is very dry and thinly sliced. I got to squeeze all the lemon to make it more moistured. If without the lemon juice to cover the fish, there is a faint taste of unfreshness from the fish. The fries are saltish and the rocket leaf salad totally fail as the salad did not pick up the taste from the black colour sauce. Totally not worth it to pay $14 for each plate of fish and chip with a  waiting time of 45mins and moreover the tables are not full during lunch time and the food are not served in sequence with extreme biasness.…Read More

Chicken up dessert review !
Chicken Up
2016-01-14
Today I want to eat the Chicken up Melon and Watermelon BingSu dessert that cost $20 and $18 each at Bugis. Upon arriving, I get to know that the Korean dessert is served only at selected outlets like Tampines, Parkway Parade etc. So I make a wasted trip to Bugis and I got to u-turn and take a train to Tampines outlet to eat.1. Melon BingSuRating for this dish 4/5. The melon fruit itself taste refreshing, delicious and sweet. On top of it is a scoop of nice milky creamy ice-cream of extremely smooth, delicious and yummy texture. Beneath the Melon are coconut ice shaved. I would have give it a high score if not for the expensive price. Seriously how much does half a Melon and a scoop of ice-cream cost ? Also I spotted a fruit fly stuck at one of the melon cube. They should seriously brush up on their hygiene standard !2. Watermelon BingSuRating for this dish 4.5/5. The watermelon fruit itself taste refreshing, delicious and sweet. On top of it is a scoop of nice milky creamy ice-cream of extremely smooth, delicious and yummy texture. Beneath the Melon are red bean paste and coconut ice shaved. Condense milk are pour onto the watermelon and ice-cream. I would have give it a high score if not for the expensive price. Seriously how much does half a Watermelon and a scoop of ice-cream cost ? This dish taste better then the first one because there is red bean and condense milk added to it that gives it a boost in the taste. To conclude this 2 dessert are healthy and refreshing especially on a hot day. However due to the high price and the hygiene standard as I spotted a fruit fly in my dessert, you all may wish to take note of this negative points before ordering.…Read More

Wildfire Burgers restaurant review
Wildfire Burgers
2016-01-14
Wildfire Burgers restaurant is located just outside 313 somerset. It can be easily found and this place is suitable for a quick bite or drinks with your friends as they serve a wide variety of beverages like alcohol, wine, beer, soft drink etc.1. Black Ebi BurgerI rate this 5/5. This burger is made of breaded prawn patty with butterhead lettuce, sliced tomatoes, grilled pumpkin, Yuzu kosho mayonnaise and squid ink between charcoal brioche buns. The prawns inside the patty is full size big prawns and every bite is crispy, juicy and crunchy. The Yuzu kosho mayonnaise blend extremely well with the prawn patty. For the sides we have the french fries and they are hot, crispy, delicious and mildly seasoned with some spice on it as well. The chief told us we can change the default mildy spiced fries to other flavours like the Curry Fries or the Sichuan Fries at no extra cost. 2. Truffled Mushroom BurgerI rate this 4/5. This burger is made of beef patty, beer caramelised onions, sauteed mushrooms, cheese, truffle oil, truffle mayonnaise and their signature master sauce. The beef is big and juicy and the mixture of various forest mushrooms and rocket leaves combination create a nice delicious taste to it. For the sides we have the french fries and they are crispy and seasoned with some spice on it as well. However the burger overall is quite oily. Maybe they can do something to absorb the oil from the patty and the bun itself.3. Southern Style Fried ChickenI rate this 4/5. The fried chickens are extremely crispy, juicy and fresh. The dish is topped with pickled cucumbers and cabbage below. It is recommended that you dip the chicken into the maple syrup that comes with it as the chicken taste good with it. Overall it taste good but nothing special to it and it is a bit oily as well.4. Sriracha Glazed Fried ChickenI rate this 2/5. I personally cannot eat chilly hot stuff and this fried chicken is too hot for me. The fried chickens are extremely crispy, juicy and oily as well. This dish is suitable for those who like hot chilliy stuff.5. Curry FriesI rate this 4/5. The curry power sprinkle onto the hot crispy fries make it taste good and delicious and the fries are topped with curry leaves as well. Crispy and yummy is how I describe this dish.6. Sichuan FriesI rate this 1/5. After I eat the Sichuan fries my tongue feels numb and the feeling is not very good. The taste is weird and it left an unpleasant after effect taste in your mouth and I attribute it to the Sichuan seasoning sprinkle onto the fries. Overall nothing special and I recommend you all to avoid eating it at all cost.7. Chilly Cheese FriesI rate this 2/5. The Chilly Cheese Fries are sprinkle with spring onions, melted cheese, mayonnaise and chilly paste. The cheese taste very mild compare to the KFC cheese fries. Even though I am those who cannot eat chilly hot stuff, the hotness of the chilly cannot be felt by me at all. The title of this dish does not match the taste and for the steep price of $15, I would rather go to KFC to eat their cheese fries instead. To conclude this restaurant give me a feeling it is trying to compete with Mcdonald, KFC, Burgerking, EWF etc. I would have rate this place higher if the price comes down a bit more and they should try to remove the oil from their burgers and fried chicken as I am quit health conscious about it.…Read More

My food review for Eight Treasures Vegetarian 八宝素食
Eight Treasures Vegetarian
2016-01-07
Today we went to the Eight Treasures Vegetarian 八宝素食 and we order the $368+ Chinese New Year set meal that cater for 6 to 8 person. Even though this is a vegetarian restaurant but do not be deceived that it just served those plain normal tasteless vegetarian mock meat. This restaurant caught me by surprise with it's yummy delicious food that almost mimic the real meat ! Without further delay let me go on to review !First of all, this place is easy to find as it is located along Chinatown. The decoration for the restaurant is very cosy, beautiful and innovative and it makes me feel just like home. The owner of this restaurant had obviously put in great thoughts into the decor.1. Veg. shark fin with white fungus and wolfberries  I rate this dish 5/5. It taste just like the real shark fin soup filled with delicious healthy enoki mushroom, white fungus, wolfberries, thin slices of bean curd, mock ham, carrots and konnyaku (yam root extract to make the springy shark fin). It is well prepared in a nice, delicious and flavourful soup. This dish is environmental friendly to replace the real shark fin to prevent the sharks from getting killed.2. Fruit salad veg chickenI rate this dish 5/5. It is covered with nice crispy potato that is used to mimic the chicken and underneath the mock chicken is filled with healthy delicious fruit salad like pineapple, apple etc. Overall taste is nice and refreshing.3. Thai style veg. cod fishI rate this dish 5/5. The soy base mock cod fish is well made and topped with thin slice of carrots, cucumber etc fresh vegetables. The Thai sauce taste just right with a mixture of sweet, sour and spicy taste made from lemongrass etc. Eating this dish makes me feel like eating an authentic dish from Thailand !4. Veg. abalone mushroom with tou pau & seasonal greensI rate this dish 4/5. The abalone mushroom is well cook, soft and tasty as it absorbs all the seasoning and sauce. The broccoli is well cooked just nice and it taste crunchy too. The white color tou pau should be removed as it is tasteless and it served no purpose in the dish except that it make it look nice that's all. This dish is good but nothing special.5. Cereal veg. prawnsI rate this dish 4/5. It taste just almost like the real prawns and the best part is it is not oily and it looks like it was fried using air fryer. Even the cereal topped onto the prawns is not oily at all. The floor coated onto the prawns is a bit thick though.6. Fragrant yam ringAs I don't really eat yam I will just comment on the inner fillings. Inside is filled with mock meat and a few cashiew nut. They should add more cashiew nuts and the portion is a bit small. The mock meat inside is nothing special as well.7. Braised Yee Fu NoodlesI rate this dish 5/5. I had eaten a lot of Yee Fu Noodles from other restaurant during weddings etc and this is by far the one with the most toppings like bean sprout, vegetables, mock meat and mushroom etc and it is one of the most delicious Yee Fu Noodles I had ever eaten. Even though I am very full near to the 7th dishes I still manage to finish eating the noodles as it taste qq and delicious as well.8. Fruity Mango PuddingI rate this dish 4/5. The mango pudding taste just nice and it is a bit sweet only which is good as they did not add much sugar. The texture of the jelly is really nice and wonderful and I had never eaten mango pudding of this kind of smooth texture before. What prevent this dish from scoring full points is because the mango cubes is a bit small and too little and it is very hard to scoop up with the spoon as I try to eat the left over mango cubes in my bowl. They should cut the mango cubes into larger pieces and put it inside the pudding itself so that when we scoop the pudding, we also get to eat the mango. With the mango outside of the pudding, I feel like I am eating 2 seperate things and it is not coherent.9. Honey sauce veg porkI rate this dish 3/5. The outlook and presentation of this dish makes it looks just like the real fatty pork ! I can see the white fatty part of the pork made of konnyaku and the meat part made of soy etc. Some ladies even try to seperate the white "fatty" part from the meat as though they are eating the real fatty pork. This dish is the best showcase of how far we have advanced in the vegetarian dish as people can no longer tell if it is the real meat or not. However the taste is just normal nothing really special and I will not recommend this dish.10. Rainbow Yu ShengI rate this dish 5/5. The taste is comparable to other restaurant and the generous sliced vegetables are fresh and the sauce is nice too. There are tons of crispy crackers which is my favourite topped around the dish as well ! Overall taste is yummy and delicious and I recommend it for the Chinese New Year gathering. Just like traditional Chinese restaurant, the waitress will say all the nice new year blessings while showering the seasonings on top of the vegetables and our nice host Zenna presented the waitress with a ang bao as a traditional token.11. Herbal Tea Ba Bao ChaI rate this drink 5/5. The taste of this drink is really nice and refreshing as it is sweeten naturally with luo han guo and other traditional herbs. I personally don't like sweet stuff thus this is a healthier choice drink to complement the dishes. It is suitable to be drink in a hot day as well to cool yourself down.…Read More

Charcoal Thai Food review !!!!
Charcoal Thai
2015-12-18
Today I went to Charcoal Thai for lunch. The atmosphere is nice and good. Even though there are only 3 staff, they manage to serve everyone in a speedy and polite manner. Waiting time is at most around 8mins to 15mins.Below are the dish we order :1) Thai Mookata BBQ Steamboat set. This dish is a nice and yummy steamboat and BBQ hybrid. First we melt the fats on top of the cover, then we place all the meat on top of it to BBQ. The rest like prawns, vegetables etc are all place at the soup base with a choice of either tom yum or chicken soup. I personally prefer chicken soup as it is not so spicy. This combination is really delicious and interesting with BBQ on top and soup below. 2) Thai beauty collagen hotpot. The waitress will put the huge white jelly like collagen into the pot and it will slowly melt. Next we just dump in all the ingredients like meat and vegetables into it and wait for it to get cooked. The overall taste is a bit saltish with MSG and blend nothing special so it is not really recommended topay such a high price for this dish. Moreover the pork is very hard and stiff which cannot be eat and we got to throw away. There are too little meat and just a few vegetables. The soup also dry up fast and the waitress got to keep topping up with more collagen. The collagen looks like fats to me so I will avoid drinking the soup if I am you.3) Thai Chicken Hotpot SetThis dish is spicy and flavourful suitable to be eaten with rice. The chilly in the soup can be a bit hot so I recommend you all to scoop out the chicken cube and eat it seperately if you cannot stand hot chilly food. I recommend this dish due to it's low price.4) Thai Milk tea and Lemon grass drinkThe Thai Milk tea is too sweat and seriously nothing special. I prefer the Lemon grass drink as it is not so sweat and it is refreshing as well.…Read More

Nice tapas food from my little spanish place !
My Little Spanish Place
2015-03-12
I visited the lovely Little Spanish Place restaurant today and below is my review of their food. First of all their service is excellent, their chief from the Philippines is very friendly and handsome and I enjoy his introduction to the Spanish food. The Decor is very lovely and homely as well !a) CroquettasThe skin is soft and not crispy despite being fried. It tast like normal mash potatoe being fried. The garlic mayonnaise sauce taste normal. Overall it taste normal and nothing special. I will have rated it higher if the skin is crispy and they increase the taste level of this dish.Rating : 6.5/10b) Gambas al ajilloThis is a prawn base dish fried in a nice sauce and serve with a piece of hard bread. The sauce is very nice and flavourful and I enjoy it very much. The prawn is nice fresh and delicious. Yummy !Rating : 8.5/10c) Champinones al hornoThis is a tapas dish as well with a hard piece of bread at the bottom, on top of it are 2 nice big juicy mushoom, melted cheese, a piece of prawn and lastly some vegetables and sauce. This is my favourite dish as the mushroom is very nice juicy and tender and the entire combination goes well with each other and it taste very good. One word of advice slice the tapas into half before eating as it is very hot !Rating : 9/10d) Paella de la casaIt is a seafood base yellow rice dish serve nicely with extremely well decorated fresh oyster, prawns, squid and chicken. One look and the dish looks extremely impressive amoung all the other dish I had eaten so far tonight ! However the yellow rice stick onto the base of the pan and got a bit of a "chao ta" burn taste. The cook should have stir the rice while cooking. Cooking everything without stiring the rice maintain the overall beautiful outlook but it cause the rice to stick to the pan at the bottom which is not good. There is a round thing that looks like the Chinese bak kua place ontop of the dish and it taste very saltish so do not eat it. The prawns are fresh as usual and the yellow rice taste a bit saltish.Rating : 7/10e) Torilla di patataIt is a bonus dish serve by our wonder nice friendly chief. It is basically a mesh potatoe omlette that is cut into a nice cake looking shape. The taste is really too overwhelming and over powering and I feel like throwing out after eating it. I think they should seriously consider removing this from the menu. Rating : 4/10f) Dessert platterIt consist of 3 items. One is a piece of hard looking brown deep fried stick of floor coated with sugar, dip into a hot dark chocolate sauce. Next is a scoop of strawberry ice-cream and lastly is a small piece of chocolate tart. The brown stick of floor is nice and crispy and blend well with the dark chocolate dip. After I eat finish eating the brown stick I even use my spoon to finish up the dark chocolate dip as it taste very nice, delicious and smooth. The strawberry ice cream is hand made according to the chef as he need to keep on stiring the ice-cream every few minutes. It taste a bit sour like those healthy sorbet ice-cream but not too sour and it taste just right. Next is the tiny chocolate tart it is also rich in chocolate and it is nice and delicious. Everything taste good and the only problem with this dish is that the proportion is a bit tiny ! If they increase the size and proportion I will give it a higher score.Rating : 8.5/10…Read More

Pork cutlet
Coco Ichibanya
2013-08-26
I happen to go to 313 Somerset so I pop by at Coco Ichibanya to have a taste of their curry rice. I order according to the spiciness level from mild to extreme hot on a scale of 1 to 10. Since I dun like my food to be too hot thus I ordered the Pork Cutlet Curry Rice base level 1 for a milder taste. The Pork was deep fried to perfecton and the rice was divided equally with the curry. Overall I recommend going there to try out at least once. However I wish the pork cutlet will be bigger because by the time I finish eating the pork cutlet there are still plenty of rice left behind.…Read More

Original taste ramen review !
Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King
2013-08-25
They have 3 flavors to choose for their ramen Original, Black Spicy and Red Spicy. I choose the Original favor as it has less oil and I want to keep myself healthy !They have free flow of hard boiled eggs and seasoned bean sprouts whereby we can keep on adding them into the ramen. The eggs we just have to peel off the shell ourselves. The soup taste just nice without too much salt added inside as compare to other ramen stalls. Overall the light taste combine with the free flow of eggs will certainly get me coming back again for a second round !…Read More

Ajisen Tempura Curry Rice review !
Ajisen Ramen
2013-08-24
I just eat the Ajisen Tempura Curry Rice at Tiong Bahru Plaza. I was worried the prawn will be very small but my worry was unfound as the 4 big prawn and the curry rice was more then enough to fill my stomach. The green tea was free flow too very nice as I chat with my friend and can get thirsty after talking too much. However the service left much to be desired as the waitress just threw the menu on our table. Luckily it was my friend whom treat me if not I would have lodge a complaint already. That waitress keep on bad mouth and made sarcastic remark at her college and it was really bad.…Read More

Domino's Pizza review
Domino's Pizza
2012-11-06
Don't know how these guys are trained, but their new classic crust always comes out soggy, like they rushed the cooking just to get all the orders filled. Nothing worse than a soggy pizza, various times. Dangerous as meats may not be cooked too. I don't risk it anymore, I just order thins instead. Also, when ordering a custom pizza I request double of a topping but they rarely if ever honour that. In fact they put the same as a single serve of that topping, but charge you for the 4 custom toppings. These guys are ripping off consumers! Do they weight them or use volume measurements? Double means twice as much as normal, but they think we don't notice when it turns out a single serving. …Read More

My most memorable dining experience !!!
Pizza de France
2012-02-29
My most memorable dining experience is at Pizza de France ! I walk all the way sweating from the main road to west coast to find this place as there are no direct bus to come in. Luckily the effort pay off as the prawn pasta is very nice, fresh and creamy with gravy. The staff is very polite and they even offer free wine sample and crab sauce. The nice natural sea breeze, hazy dim light and not forgetting a moving Tyrannosaurus Rex model that really captured my attention making this a night to remember.…Read More
