Valentines buffet
Olive Tree Restaurant
2013-02-21
The ambient of the restaurant was like any other hotel international buffet restaurant. Tables were set well enough with a rose and a fan. However the table clothes were too long, enough to make somebody trip and fall. So we started of with the cold platter which included Alaskan king crab, fresh oysters, clams and mussels. The only appealing part was crab and the oysters. Then we moved on to the cheese station. Was a little disappointed as there were houseflies. The biscuits offered were not too bad to go with the cheese. The carving station was well, the best station, with the juicy lamb cook till perfection, with juice flowing out when we sink our knives in it. Sushi station was the other next best station. To non sashimi lovers, u can try out their swordfish sashimi, really chewy and really sweet..! I was surprise myself..! We were offered a flute of champagne each. Cost of damage: $88++ which eventually adds up to about $100 per person. Will I return to dine? No. Not worth it.…Read More

Chicken Rice
Loy Kee Best Chicken Rice
2011-08-10
First to introduce is the rice itself. It is glossy and has a very unique look. You can see every bits of the rice itself, and not like the usualy rice you see, which is like kinda watery and too soft. The rice has a nice fragrant which is the normal pandan rice smell. Taking the first bite into this rice, tells me that i can actually eat it own its own without anything else. The texture of the rice is not too oily unlike some chicken rice stalls in Singapore. And you can really trust the looks of the rice, IN YOUR MOUTH! You can feel and play the rice in your mouth, they roll individualy, and as you chew it, you can feel that you need to chew a few more times, the reason is that it has this chewy-ness in it.This roasted chicken, has got enough flavors and the skin of the chicken doesnt bore you out, with its totally wholesome flavor in it. The chicken, is soft, tender and succulent that you don't realise you are actually eating the breast meat. That makes it pleasant and worthwhile. The Kai LanIt's really crispy and a definite must try, even if your are not a vege lover. It is so crispy you can even hear youself eating it. The juice is really refreshing and of course healthy. With the oyster sauce, it definitely goes well with and you will not grow sick of it.$21 for 2 person/…Read More

Fatman Satay
Fatman Satay
2011-08-03
Fatman Satay Stall @ Lau Pa SatSorry readers, didnt manage to take pictures of the satay from fatman satay stall though. Looks may be deceiving. To food lovers, this is usually true. The food that is being served to you may not be as delicious as the picture looks. To me, as satay lovers, we are awwfully un-impressed by the satay that was made. Usually, we would enjoy satay a bit charred with succulent and tender meat. This stall itself, yes though it has got that bit of charred on the satay, meat was not succulent and tender at all. The meat of the satay was however minced. The marination of the satay, was not very fantastic. You can even taste the Burger King in the beef satay for a few moments. However, food lovers who dont mind their satay being minced, might enjoy this stall, as different people have got different perception of the food. The prawn, wasnt that impressive too. you can taste the powdery texture in not-that-fresh prawns. The sweetness of the prawn was not there too. One can easily taste that it is the natural taste of the prawn, which was not marinated at all.Whole meal cost $50 which serves 5./…Read More
