Good food but poor service
Royal China
2013-05-23
I have visited Royal China several times and this place is by far my favourite place for dim sum. I wouldn't say that ALL dishes were fantastic, but, many of the dishes are above average. For more photos of other dishes do visit: Roasted Pork (烧肉) a.k.a Shio BakThe roasted pork is fantastic. Crispy skin, yet not overly salty. On top of that, the pork has a thinner layer of fat, makes it less jelat and you can just enjoy the pork at ease The peanuts were gently fried (or roasted?) and the fragrance is at its optimum. Scallop Dumpling I was wondering why did I not order this dish the previous few times I visited this place. It probably did not stand out as a dish to order. But, as a scallop lover, I like this dish for the freshness of the scallop as well as the bits of caviar on it.Egg TartThese dainty egg tarts are so mini and so cute! The crust is light and flaky, but I would prefer the filling to be softer and smoother.Steamed Pork RibsMost meh-ish dish =.= Don't waste the moneySliced Fish CongeeMy friend wanted a staple dish, if not I would give this a miss. The porridge is no doubt smooth and creamy, but at the same time, it was pretty grainy. It tasted quite plain and there were only a few slices of fish. The biscuits (similar to those found on Yu Sheng) did not do a favour for the porridge as well. The Liu Sha Bao was a disappointment the previous time I went. The buns were not very fluffy and the taste wasn't very distinct. Maybe because it was infused with mango flavour? But I couldn't taste it despite it being mentioned in the menu ):This time round, it was much better and the filling is has more of a liquid consistency!! The chee cheong fun is smooth, velvety and glides down your throat. I ordered the 3 flavoured ones - Scallop, Char Siew and Prawn. I love anything that has scallop so it was my favourite! Love the Siew Mai! I really dislike low quality siew mai that contains minced meat/lots of fats. This is really good. Addition of a wolfberry and a stalk of parsley made it stand out (:Though the food was good, I am really turned off by their service. And it has been like that since the first time I went. Even after reservation, we had to wait for like 15-20 mins to get seated (when there were some big empty tables around). I guess they just did not want to utilize the big table for only 2 people. In addition, my friend had a stroller. The staff gave us such a squeezy table. Difficult to get staff's attention. Placed order at 2pm.... At 2.20, the food is not here..and guess what, a waitress came to us an said "Our last order is at 2.30, is there anything you wish to add on?" (in Mandarin) I looked at her and said "None of our dishes are served yet and now you asked me for last order?!"…Read More

Yummy steak
10 At Claymore
2013-05-13
I visited 10 at Claymore for the "Plates of Pleasure" treat. These are some the standard buffet items - Seafood. There was a generous variety of seafood, including lobsters and the huge crab. Most buffets do not have lobster and most of them serve flower crab which are smaller in size. The oysters were fresh to the max! There is an oyster counter and two kitchen staff were busy prying open the oysters on the spot upon order.Fish Udon. The udon 'noodles' are actually made of fish paste!Steak. Perfectly cook, this was my favourite dish. I ate like 5-6portions of it!Macarons and Butter cookies. While the macarons were nothing fantastic, the butter cookies. If not for the fact that I was damn full, I would have eaten more of it.I guess what made the whole buffet worth were the crab, lobster, oyster and steak. Other than that, I wouldn't return for another round, unless the Plates of Pleasure menu catches my attention again (:…Read More

Great dim sum!
Mouth Restaurant
2013-05-13
The menu is pretty expansive and I most common dim sum dishes are available. The restaurant is clean and conducive, pretty spacious and welcoming. I went on a weekday during high tea hours so there wasn't any crowd, thus I cannot comment on the service during peak hours. The price is a little bit high but the food is reasonable for that. Har GaoThe har gao's skin wasn't thick. It was just nice. Prawns were crunchy and juicy. The steamed BBQ pork bun looks light and fluffy and it really is!The beautiful bloom resembles a huat kueh. I don't fancy steamed buns than have a layer of skin on the outside and I will always peel it off before eating. The char siew filling was pretty good, not too sweet and not too starchy as well.Fried Prawn Dumplings (明虾饺)This was okay, there was not strong "kee" taste and it goes well with the mayonnaiseFried Beancurd Skin Roll a.k.a Tau Kee (腐皮卷)I like the tau kee here! As you can see, the skin is not those that is slightly translucent. It it fried till almost opaque. With a light, extremely crispy outer skin and juicy inner fillings.. Thumbs upBraised Ee-fu NoodlesAgain, the usual Ee-fu noodles that are usually served in chinese restaurants and wedding dinners.I love ee-fu noodles and this was just as enjoyable as most that I've eaten.Xiao Long BaoAmazed by the size! The Xiao Long Baos are really huge and look at the amount of soup/juice contained within each of them!Baked Liu Sha BaoThis was probably the best dish that afternoon. It totally blew me away. The baked crust is sweet and thing, with a little bit of crisp (think of those Fried Man Tous that goes together with Chilli Crab). Once you sink your teeth into the bun, the molten, liquid egg yolk flows out.Not for the faint hearted and those in poor health. For more photos visit: http://drunkene.blogspot.sg/2013/05/mouth-restaurant.html…Read More

I wanted to order the normal, steamed chee cheong fun but I ticked this instead. This is the usual, fried X.O carrot cake, except that it uses chee cheong fun.I thought it could have been better if more chai poh (preserved turnip) was added.Braised Ee-fu NoodlesAgain, the usual Ee-fu noodles that are usually served in chinese restaurants and wedding dinners.I love ee-fu noodles and this was just as enjoyable as most that I've eaten.Xiao Long BaoAmazed by the size! Great dim sum!
Nice place for finger food
Ireland's Potato
2013-04-14
I went there with the purchase of some vouchers and I think it's a convenient place for finger food at Illuma. The place is pretty small and seats are quite limited though.I love the drumlets! It was juicy and well marinated.Seaweed PowderI love Seaweed flavoured fries but this Seaweed Powder did not stand out.The seaweed taste wasn't strong and they were not generous with the seaweed powder. :(Special Cheese. This special cheese fries doesn't taste as good as it looked. I'm guessing that it is made of sprinkled parmesan or mozarella cheese? A little bit like those pizza cheese which dries up when it is cold. You have to eat this fast because when it is cold, the cheese solidifies and turns rubbery. I would prefer those liquid, nachos cheese. I personally prefer fries that are made of potatoes fried with the skin on, and the skin really enhances the taste and gives it a very distinctive fragrance. The fries itself at Ireland's Potato was just mediocre. There was a wide variety of flavours for the fries but some of them are quite common except for a few more special ones like fruit cream and yoghurt cream. That said, with several fries stall of such concept springing up, I think they need to improve on the taste and maybe expand the menu to be different (:…Read More

New breakfast menu!
Kungfu Paradise
2013-04-14
KungFu paradise is under the Paradise Group of restaurants, which owns many popular restaurants such as Paradise Dynasty and Paradise Inn. KungFu paradise has 4 outlets and this breakfast menu is available at 3 of them, namely Bugis+, Bedok Point and JCube. It is a casual and laidback East-meets-West cafe that opens past midnight daily and features an affordable and extensive selection of Hong Kong-style classics, Asian delights, Western favourites, drinks and desserts to satisfy cravings throughout the day and night. It is a great place for friends and families to gather and "chill" for long hours! This is the breakfast menu!First up, I ordered a HK Style Milk Tea (Cold)I enjoyed the milk tea as it was pretty thick and fragrant. Despite ordering the cold one, the melting ice did not dilute the milk tea!Kay's Breakfast Combo, $11.80This looks like a very standard set of, with two fried eggs, cheese sausage, turkey bacon and toasted white bread.I didn't really taste the cheese in the sausage, but the bacon was quite fragrant though not very crispy. Spanish Omelette, $8.80I thought this dish was quite unique, it looks like a thick stack of pancake-look-alike omelette. It consists of diced capsicum, onions, chicken chipolata and is served with tomato sauce. The omelette was juicy and the ingredients in it gave it a nice crunch! I felt they should come up with a better sauce that compliments this dish because going with ketchup makes it so ordinary.... Nothing special. I think a special sauce can make this dish shine!Royal Rumble Scrambled Eggs, $10.80Ohhh, scrambled eggs! It was the first time I tried scrambled eggs topped with bacon bits and I think that more bacon bits have to be added to bring out the taste. In the description, it was that bits of chives were sprinkled on top but I think it is spring onion instead. I like my croissant cirspy, buttery and fluffy but this one is abit "lao hong" or stale.Croque Madame, $11.90The croque madame is a grilled ham and cheese sandwich baked in a rich mozarella and cream sauce.I like the sliced country loaf used and love the melted cheese that is absorbed into the bread. Despite so, the bread remained crispy!Egg Benedict with Lemon Butter Sauce, $12.90Many people were looking forward to this very popular dish! The egg was very welll-done but this dish didn't really stand out from the rest. While I agree that the Lemon Butter Sauce is a little creativity at work, I still prefer egg ben with Hollandaise sauce.Wafflelicious, $9.90Factoring in GST and service charge, the price is rather steep for these two pieces of waffle. The waffles were not delectable and it could be due to the fact that it is shielded by the strawberry syrup. The fruits were really fresh and thumbs up for the presentation! It looks really pretty! Overall thoughts:I personally dislike the salad that comes with the dishes. I'm a salad lover and I could easily finish that small portion of salad given but the rocket leaves just tasted really really bad on its own. The raw, leafy taste is too strong and it was like eating raw herbs. The balsamic vinaigrette didn't do the leaves favour either. The sauteed mushrooms and cherry tomatoes were not bad and I ate quite abit of those.I think the effort in presentation is there except for the fact that they serve the knife with every dish, which I find it quite disturbing. As you can see the kinfe appearing in some of the photos. All the sunny-side ups are so so well done, it makes the breakfast look really good. Nonetheless, the taste was quite ordinary and I personally would not spent this amount of money for breakfast, but brunch maybe? (:…Read More

My favourite Ramen
IPPUDO
2013-03-13
After having ramen at so many places, this is probably my favourite in Singapore. I have been to Ippudo many times and the Akamaru one is the best, in my opinion. The soup is thick, flavourful and has bits of fats floating around. The noodles are smooth and cooked to the correct consistency (you can customise doneness of the noodles). The pork slices are not the best that I've tasted, but it is decent. The molten egg is my weakness. On the outside, it seems overcooked. In fact, when I first bit the egg white, I thought the egg yolk was gonna be overcooked, until i bit through it.. And it was thick, creamy, not exactly runny... and very flavourful!Nonetheless, it was a pricey bowl of ramen. The gyoza - nothing much to rave about. For more details do visit: http://drunkene.blogspot.sg/2012/12/the-ramen-list_6.html…Read More

Wide variety of dishes in a comfortable setting
B.K.T. by Kong Kee
2013-03-06
Last weekend, I was very privileged to be invited for a food tasting at B.K.T by Kong Kee. This is a new restaurant, located near the CBD area and it was officially opened on 12th Dec, 2012. Very auspicious date. The restaurant is so generous to let us try so many dishes. In fact, they kept asking if we needed to order more. The first thing that caught my attention was the wide variety of Bak Kut Teh the restaurant offers. Most BKT restaurants one standard kind and some other side dishes to go with it. Kong Kee has 3 types - Klang Style, Teochew Style, Dry BKTFirst up is the Teochew Style BKT. The most common one, with a pepper soup base. The soup is flavourful, yet the pepper taste is not choking. It takes about an 1hour plus to prepare this soup.I wouldn't say it is very spectacular as it is not difficult to find similar tasting ones elsewhere. The Klang Style BKT is my favourite among the two soup ones. The herb taste is distinct, yet it is not overpowering. Those who do not like herbal soup would definitely enjoy this as well. According to the PR manager, Patricia, this takes at least 2hours to brew and the quantity of herbs used is optimum such that they do not add water and continue brewing it when it finishes. A new pot is cooked and brewed from scratch. Patricia said that they would only refill the Teochew soup if customers purchase both the Klang and Teochew one. In my opinion, this was the highlight of the meal. Dry Bak Kut Teh. Served piping hot in a claypot, at first look I thought it resembles Gong Bao Ji Ding (Kung Po Chicken). The meat is soft and flavourful, yet not too chewy. I love such strong flavoured dishes. It is cooked with the Klang Style's soup till it dries. MUST TRY!Tendon. I love all sorts of tendon cos of its jelly-like texture. And it is a great source of collagen (:Salted Vegetables, which I really like because it is not too salty. The garlic and dried chilli also makes it very tasty.Pig's ankle. The most common dish is the trotter and I thought that having this dish in their menu really makes them stand out! I prefer the ankle to the trotter because it is much more tender!Tau Kee drenched with braised sauce.Kai Lan and Lettuce. I thought the Kai Lan was pretty well-prepared because most places would serve the full piece of Kai Lan with the stalk and simple drizzle oyster sauce over it. Over here, the Kai Lan is chopped and the stalks were not present. The fried garlic sprinkled over the two vegetables made them really fragrant. If you're looking for a good place for herbal bak kut teh, I would strongly recommend this place. Do order the dry Bak Kut Teh as well! One plus point is that, this place does not charge GST and service charge even though they are GST registered. So the prices are really very reasonable for dining at a comfortable, air-conditioned place. The location is very convenient, within walking distance from Chinatown and Raffles Place MRT!…Read More

Chinese cuisine at reasonable prices
Paradise Dynasty
2013-01-30
Paradise dynasty is quite a popular Chinese restaurant, under the Paradise Group. It serves common Shanghainese cuisine such at Xiao Long Bao and La Mian.We went to the branch at Ion, reached there at about 6pm and they were already giving out queue numbers. I walked around for a while and came back to realize that I've missed my number, so we had to wait for a while more. The interior looks pretty posh for a restaurant that offer reasonable food prices. The decorations were very suited to the name of the restaurant - the royal, majestic feel. Seating capacity was very large, with both indoor and outdoor seats for you to choose from. I also like that the kitchen is surrounded by glass so that we can see what is going on in there!Of course, we ought to order the famous Rainbow Xiao Long Bao - Original, Ginseng, Foie Gras, Black Truffles, Szechuan, Cheese, Garlic, Crab Roe.I personally think the original one is still the best. If I were to choose one among the 'special' flavours, it would be crab roe. I like anything that has the seafood, fishy taste. Garlic flavour was really overpowering. Szechuan was the worst flavour. The rest are not here nor there. The flavours were not to distinct to taste it at one bite but it doesn't shield the xiao long baos' taste as well.Ohh yes, I also like that the Xiao Long Baos were seated on a piece of white cloth cos that makes it easier to take them without tearing the skin!La Mian in Pork Bone Soup with Sliced Pork Belly.Though I prefer japanese ramen, this is quite good for a chinese la mian! The soup is quite flavourful and you could taste that there were some good ingredients used to brew it. The pork belly is great as well! Well-cooked, flavourful, good textureZha Jiang Mian was not too bad. Definitely better than Crystal Jade's one though. This place is great for a quick restaurant dinner, family fare etc.. Or some chinese dian xin or xiao chi, at reasonable prices! Service was prompt even though it was thoroughly packed (the queue outside is never ending). There were many staff around and it wasn't difficult to get their attention. I'm looking forward to try their other dishes!…Read More

Amazing eggs
Ramen Keisuke Tonkotsu King
2013-01-28
One of the three ramen restaurants in Singapore owned by Keisuke Takada. I've not tried any of them and of course, the first one ought to be Tonkotsu. All 3 restaurants serve ramen in different soup bases and obviously this one, Tonkotsu King, serves a pork bone soup base. The queue was about 20mins on a Monday night. You probably have to wait longer if you're in a bigger group. The area has quite a few interesting restaurants as well and if walk further down to Tanjong Pagar road, you will get to see many korean restaurants. This outlet has only one staff serving the customers. Despite so, this lady is really efficient. She could even remember that we wanted to change our order after taking in so many orders at one go.First, we got to grind the sesame seeds, which will then be added to the ramen. It brings out the flavour of the soup. There are 3 main ramen. Normal, with Black Oil, with Red Oil.I went for the one with Black Oil.You can choose the ingredients that you want too. I selected all ingredients. This egg is AMAZINGGGG just typing this makes me feel so hungry. The exterior colour is quite light, but it is so well flavoured, even the yolk is tasty. Of course, the consistency is perfect.Complimentary bean sprouts and hard boiled eggs (not the flavoured ones) are provided. And best of all, they are free flow! Great for people who love eggs (and want that extra protein) I enjoyed the simply-seasoned bean sprouts. While the black oil does give the soup a different taste, I preferred the original one which my partner ordered. The black oil does not enhance the taste of the ramen as compared to Nantsuttei's . It could be that the oil is not roast garlic oil? I ended up scooping the oil out and I did not finish the soup (which I usually do when I like the ramen). Eventually I drank lots of the original soup. The cha shu was slightly thicker than normal but not very well marinated. …Read More

Neli's Ice Cream
2013-01-25
I had craving for some ice cream so decided to head down to Upper Thomson, the land of ice creams. There are SOOOO many ice cream shops in that area, the competition must be very stiff. The shop is just opposite Salted Caramel and Udders. It's concept is very interesting and something that most people could relate to. The shop is travel-themed, and the interior is a beautiful light blue shade. There is a section that has travelogues. These books are for customers to pen down their travel experiences according to the various continents. There is even a bookshelf loaded with travel guides! I'm sure those who love travelling or those who like to share their thoughts would enjoy the place. It's a great place to chill with friends, catch up... Or even to do work on an afternoon! I would probably study there if I stay nearby. We sampled several flavours and had quite a hard time deciding. I like that their Vanilla ice cream is spotted with traces of vanilla beans.Stout Chocolate was quite shiok.Other refreshing flavours that I've tasted are Pear Sorbet and Chrysanthemum Sorbet.Eventually, we went for Horlicks and Chocolate Banana on Waffles, with both maple and chocolate syrup.I really like their waffles. In my opinion, their waffles taste nicer than Udders'!Flavours wise, not very creative.. But they are coming up with more.Overall, I think it's not bad a place for a quick ice cream treat! Five stars are not enough for the service
Wooloomooloo Steakhouse
2013-01-25
This is probably the most amazing restaurant that I've ever dined in. I've never had meals at atas restaurants overseas and I wonder what are their service standards like but Wooloomooloo's was mind-blowing.I called and made a reservation few days ago and a day before, they called me back to confirm. The entrance of the restaurant is a wine cabinet as well as a fridge-room at the side. It stores meat and we sneaked in to have a feel of what is it like!First impression - excellent. Here is the food: Complimentary bread. It was so nice and fluffy and they were so generous to give the whole loaf for just the two of us! We had to take away and they were so kind to pack it nicely in a box and place it in a fabric bag carrier! The waitress reminded me to take the bread when I leave.Tuna and Crab Tartare. Has a layer of avocado and diced oranges. We don't really know how to appreciate this dish but the oranges gave it a refreshing taste! It was the first time I tasted raw crab. I wonder how they took out the flesh from the shell. Lobster Bisque. The soup is really gao and flavourful there was a huge chunk of lobster meat! $20Here comes the lead actor of the night. My filet mignon, in medium rare. Tender and juicy. Well grilled Inside. It was a thick and huge chunk of meat and the consistency in done-ness was throughout the whole piece of meat. Impressive. We ordered Wooloomooloo steak as well, also in medium rare. The outer rims was slightly more done than medium rare but it was fine. Just a speck of imperfection. The manager insisted on changing for us but rejected because it was really fine.Creamy mashed potato. It was so well blended that you don't get lumps of potato, yet you can taste the find bits in every spoonful.Sautéed MushroomsWarm Chocolate Cake. We didn't want to order cos we were damn full after all the food already. But I insisted, die die must try this. Just nice, we were told that it takes 17minutes to be done. Got time for a breather (:The picture says it all.. Oozing goodness. It is definitely the best that I've tried and I'm not sure if I can find out that beats this. $25.The waitresses were on their toes man. Super alert that when my partner accidentally raised his hand, they came over. They constantly topped up our water and checked if the food is ok for us and whether the meat was cooked to our liking. We ordered a few dishes that were recommended by various food bloggers but we gave the side dishes a miss. To our surprise, the manager (I suppose he is) brought mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms for us to try. Really warm and friendly. The meal burned a hole in our pockets though. You could say that we've paid for the service. But to be honest, what you pay is what you get. And I've gotten what I paid (:…Read More

Light, Crispy Tonkatsu
Saboten
2013-01-25
I wanted to have tonkatsu and not sure where to have them. Did some search online and came across Saboten, decided to give it a try. I have not tried many tonkatsu before but the ones at Saboten are really worth a mention. The place is not very huge. A cosy, brightly-lit environment. Some japanese customers were there and it feels quite authentic. Grinding sesame seeds, and then drown them with plum sauce, which will be used to dip the fried meat cutlets. The cabbages were very fresh and finely chopped, and you get to choose between sesame sauce or orange peel sauce to go with them. I tried both and love the sesame sauce. I always liked the sesame sauce, that could easily be bought as supermarkets, although they can be quite fattening!Free flow cabbage and I took many servings of it!We ordered a Pork Loin set and a Saboten Special Set.Saboten Special Set - A small pork tenderloin, pork loin, fried ebi, crab cream croquetteI prefer the tenderloin. The loin is slightly drier. The crumbs were fried to perfection. Crispy and light, won't feel gelat.I LOVE THE CRAB CREAM CROQUETTE.Set meal comes with Matcha Ice Cream. It tastes quite ordinary, nothing much to rave about. The menu was not very extensive. You probably won't be there often unless you are dying to have some tonkatsu. It was a pretty enjoyable meal and cabbages never tasted so yummy before. Just typing about the crab cream croquette makes me hungry. The free flow cabbage, soup and rice is pretty attractive. I enjoyed the cabbage and miso soup though they were not extraordinarily tasty. The soup has plenty of ingredients! We had several servings of them (:The staff were very attentive and took initiative to ask if we needed to top up our veg/soup even when we did not request. For more photos do visit: http://drunkene.blogspot.sg/2013/01/saboten-tonkatsu.html…Read More

Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant

This restaurant has been at Bugis for quite some time and I've been wanting to try it, however, not much raves about it.Since there was a deal available, I purchased the voucher and went for it!Sheng Jian Bao (Pan-fried bun)Pork RibsMing Xia Jiao (Deep fried prawn dumpling)Sweet and sour pork.Drunken chickenStir-fried duck meat (forgot the exact name)Of course, we ordered other food as well.. Siew Mai, Har Gow, Xiao Long Bao etc..The food came in pretty big portion for two for a buffet (My expectation for buffet ala carte supposed to be sample size). Sweet and sour pork and pork ribs were starchy and sticky. It's very "gor gor", I have no idea why..Alot of the steamed dim sum like har gow and xiao long bao have quite thick skin and the prawns tasted like crystal prawns. The two dishes that won us over was the duck meat and this Shanghai stir fried noodle. We ordered these two dishes twice despite being damn full. The duck meat was tasty and well-cooked, and the meat doesn't get stucked in your teeth when bitten. The fried noodle uses la mian, which gives a chewy texture. If i'm not wrong, they fried it with XO sauce. However, the standard was not consistent. Our 2nd round order (when the crowd came in) was way lousier tasting as compared to the first round's.Dim sum wasn't fantastic although they specialise in it (I think?). I feel that the ala carte dishes were better. The voucher cost $17.40 per person for weekday high tea, 3-5pm, excluding GST.Our bill was about $23 per person after including GST and I would say for the variety, it was worth it.The service was not very good though there were many staff around. Some of our dishes took way too long to arrive and some orders were missed out.One bad experience with a staff. I called in to make a reservation a day before. It was the longest time I've ever taken to get my reservation done.A woman with China accent picked up. I said I wanted to make a reservation, she said hold on. Okay, so in the background I heard her settling bill with a customer. I'm fine with it..After about 3-4 mins, she came back and said in Mandarin "you want to make a reservation? wait a while".So I waited again and this time round, I heard her talking and laughing to her colleague in the background. Waited for another 2-3 mins and she finally came back to take down my reservation. …Read More

The food was beyond my expectation for a buffet lunch. Paid $139 for 2 adults and 1 child on a Saturday for the weekend buffet lunch. There was a wide array of seafood and they were all very fresh. Some hits and misses for me for the desserts. Service was very prompt. The staff cleared out utensils and topped up water whenever needed. Indian food was yummy! Thumbs up (:I usually start off a buffet with seafood.. Followed by sashimi and other sushi, cooked food, dessert, and end off with other random stuff or food that I wanna eat again. There was a largeeeee variety of seafood. The crabs were a tad salty, but I like the scallops though N said that the scallops were just average. I thought the scallops were quite huge compared to some other buffets that we've eaten. The lobsters were not very tasty.Prawns were one of the best that I've eaten. Almost all buffet that has seafood will have the cold prawns, but I think Carousel's was especially sweet, succulent, crunchy. I ate like a mountain of it (yes, high cholesterol. I know)There were also small section with seasoned seafood, which I tastes good!Pumpkin bisque with crab meat. I seldom get to have pumpkin soup and this one was a winner to me. The pumpkin waste was distinct yet it did not cover the crab meat's taste! The 2 pink triangular slices with a blueberry on top is called Strawberry Shortcake. Not the usual strawberry shortcake, but this one is more of a mousse. The chocolate mousse and the desserts in shot glasses were quite good as well. I love the mango cake, which was also a mousse-like dessert. This is my favourite dessert. I'm not sure if i'm correct, but I'm guessing it's a mont blanc cake cos I tasted like chestnut. That lump of chocolate ganache on top is thick and smooth. I had two of this on my own (verall I felt that the buffet is delicious and worth it! Service was excellent. The staff were attentive, topped up water and cleared our plates quite fast. I found a strand of hair on my plate among the seafood, alerted the staff and she immediately informed the manager, who then apologised and took a new plate of food for me. The white chicken and roast duck was yummy! Do note that it is a halal buffet, so don't hope for pork. The char siew is made of chicken. Did not like the sashimi cos I didn't like the way it was sliced. Other than that, I think it has lived up to expectations.
