Pad Ga-prao (Stir-fry Minced Meat with Basil Leaves) is one of the most common dishes in Thailand, using the strongly scented Basil leaves. You can cook this dish with Pork, Chicken or Beef using this recipe.
Kueh Pie Tee is a popular Peranakan dish in S’pore. It’s a thin & crispy pastry shell filled with spicy & sweet mixture of vegetables & prawns.
I decided to cook Pad Ga-prao with the Kueh Pie Tee shells that I'd bought. What a perfect way to entertain guests, with a different touch!
(Serves 3 - 6) 300g Minced Pork 6 Kueh Pie Tee shells (optional) 2 tsp Fish sauce ½ tsp Dark Soya sauce ½ tsp Sugar ½ tsp Chilli peppers
Method
Remove stems from Basil. We’re just using the leaves. Rinse well. Sautéed garlic till fragrant. Add pork & break it up. Keep frying until pork starts to turn from pink to a uniform opaque colour.
Add seasonings, sugar & chillies. Mix well. Put about 2 tsp of the pork mixture into the shells & serve.
