My friends and I went for dinner at this hawker centre and we ordered many different dishes from different stalls. One of it is the sweet sour pork “gu lau rou”. My friends and I went for dinner at this hawker centre and we ordered many different dishes from different stalls. One of it is the sweet sour pork “gu lau rou”. It is basically pork cut into cubes and then coated with flour and deep fried. The sauce used to coat it is sweet and sour, giving rise to the name of this dish. What I love about it is that the tastes are actually contrasting, and yet complementary when paired together. The meat to flour portion is also right, not too much flour, so no worries about eating a mouthful of flour instead of meat. This stall’s specialty is curry, so maybe next time we will try that.
