The Place - Din Tai Fung is almost as common as 7-11 Convenience Stores lately. The Place - Din Tai Fung is almost as common as 7-11 Convenience Stores lately. Five minutes walk away from 112 Katong Mall where DTF opened in December 2011, last month another DTF opened its doors at Parkway Parade's revamped ground floor extension. This DTF outlet is smaller with a semi open concept so diners can look out at shoppers walking past the corridors, and also have the passers by peering into the restaurant to see what we had ordered for our meal. Loud music from a neighboring dessert outlet also added to noisy din in this restaurant.

The Service - Staff are brisk, courteous but indifferent. However we were not expecting stellar service so we are ok if our orders are correct and food served promptly.

The Prices - Comparable to other lamian and jiaozi places like Paradise Dynasty, Lao Beijing and Crystal Jade Lamian XiaoLongBao.

The Food - Our order of fried rice and sauteed spinach arrived promptly but the xiaolongbao required 20 minutes waiting. Spinach was cooked just right with average sized portion for $9++. Fried rice with pork chop $9.90++ also passed the taste test, with egg coating every grain to produce an appetizing hue. Xiaolongbao here ($9.50++ for 10pcs) are not the best to be found in Singapore. That honour goes to Paradise Dynasty at Ion. DTF's dumplings are not juicy enough for my liking and the relatively bigger portion of fatty pork used in the filling produced a slightly porky aftertaste in the mouth after our meal. Perhaps we should give their chicken xiaolongbao a try next time.

Overall an ok meal but other DTF outlets in NEX, MBS Shoppes and 313 Somerset Mall have better service and ambience.
