When it comes to carrot cake, one would think that it is a quite sinful due to the several sauces and oil added. However, a healthy version of the carrot cake is made available at the boon lay food market. This dark version of the carrot cake has a taste which is actually less salty and oily as compared to other carrot cake stall. As for the egg mixture, it is evenly distributed around the carrot cake but more egg can be added. Other than the dark version, the tradtional white carrot cake is also made available and price wise is quite reasonable.   continue reading

How's about the combination of a delicious plate of Char Kway Teow (CKT) topped with some "Bah Hu", you got it here in Boon Lay Place Market and Food Village. The founder of this stall had started frying the plate of CKT since 1956 and till today its quite hard to find CKT that comes with "Bah Hu" (Meat Floss). I quite like the combination as i find them very special, moreover i love "bah hu". The CKT was fried quite well and moist enough. The use was dark black sauce was consistent throughout the plate. Given that the whole plate was in dull brown color, the greens added had actually enlightened the presentation of the plate!Cost: S$3.00 (Medium) continue reading

One of the cheapest white carrot cake I had ever eaten only at $2 per dish and you can choose the white one or the black one! I prefer white carrot more as no dark sauce is added, thus we can taste the original taste of the white radish. I really love it, although it is slightly oily. But the egg on it is really well cooked, I can picked up and eat every slight bit of it. Some of the stall will spread egg mixture between the carrot cake and it is so small that you barely can see. Do note that the queue is really long on weekend! continue reading

This is my first time trying carrot cake from this store. Although i live jurong area, i don't really travel to Boon lay for food. Well, when I was at there, this carrot cake store was on Television as it was nominated as one of the Singapore cheapest food. The carrot cake costs $2. It really like the texture of it, it was soft and springy. The egg was fully cooked. It was not very oily. They only cooked immediately on the spot once you ordered so it will take a little longer time. continue reading

This stall whips out unique char kway teow- it is served with green vegetables and pork floss! The char kway teow only costs $2.50 for a small plate, but I am nonetheless satisfied by the freshly fried, piping hot noodles that is very flavourful. The sauce has been spread evenly between the noodles and the additional fresh ingredients used in this dish really makes the dish really nice! continue reading
