I came during the off peak time as I had too many things to do at work. I was the only customer and I got my plate of kway tiao $3 very quickly and I was able to watch the person fry my kway tiao. It is very fragrant and my stomach was rumbling upon whiffing in the smell of the kway tiao. The kway tiao is quite wet and very slightly greasy and it is fried with quite a lot of egg. The taste of sweet and salty is rather balanced and due to the oil, each kway tiao is very smooth and does not stick together. The chinese sausages which are sliced thinly are also tasty as it does not have too much fat in it. I also like the fishcake as it does not have a fishy taste and it is quite bouncy when I bite into them. It is worth a try as the food here is good. continue reading

This stall is one of my favourites to go to whenever I am in this food centre. The kway tiao used to be fried by the old uncle but I guess it is his son doing the frying nowadays. There are different portion sizes, you can order the $2 portion if you are not feeling very hungry. I ordered a the $3 portion. The fried kway tiao is a little moist and it comes with ingredients like the chinese sausage, fishcakes, beansprouts and egg. The kway tiao has a nice balance of both sweet and salty taste. I also requested for chilli to be added to my kway tiao which made it tastier. I would definitely recommend this! continue reading

Who wouldn't like their char kuey teow to be oily yet savory, with loads of black sauce and ingredients? This stall here has been long, standing strong since many years ago from the old Tiong Bahru Market. Their price remains the same - $2, $3 or $4 portion. If you are on budget and not that hungry, you might to try their $2 kuey teow. I had the $3, which comes with kuey teow mee, cockles, fish cakes and lup cheong. The old uncle is still as skillful, and the way he fried doesn't show his age. The taste remains tasty and satisfying, sweet yet very addictive. Normally during lunch time there will be a queue, so be there early to avoid the queue! continue reading

The FoodI ordered a plate of fried kway teow which comes in decent portion. The smooth and slightly browned kway teow is expertly fried with light sweet sauce and chilli. The juicy cockles and fresh chinese waxed sausage slices also blended with the delicious kway teow very well. Overall, the kway teow are not so oily and the fish cakes are given quite a lot. A pity is not the old uncle fried the kway teow instead is his son but anyway still acceptable for me! The PriceReasonably priced at $3 per plateOverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this! continue reading

This stall has been featured on TV once telling the story of the first generation owner who is in his eighties. I did not see this old Uncle when i was there for lunch. I ordered the smallest plate at $2. It was stir-fried by a much younger Uncle. Apparently this plate of fried kway teow did not manage to impress me much. It did not have the aromatic wok taste as expected and no pork lards found. The taste has little or no sweet soya sauce taste. It served with quite a handful of ingredients like cockles, fishcake, egg and bean sprouts. It was a pleasant experience though a little disappointing but still acceptable. And, this might be one of the few stalls where you could still get something for $2. continue reading
