Signature Dishes
Not my grandma's house but is a restaurant call My Grandmas'. The name of the restaurant gives me a very personal touch as I am very close to my grandma since i am young and i love to eat the food my grandma cooks. She is such a great chef in cooking nonya delicacy. This is not the first time i go to My grandma's. In fact, this is my X times there and i developed a couple of must have dishes already. Usually i go there to curb my cravings for these dishes. lol. the restaurant actually gives you a very homely feel as they really serve home cooked style food.So there is a peep to what are my must have dishes in my Grandma'sBalachan 's lady's fingers. this is definitely my favourite dish. every time i go to My Grandma's, this is a must order dish lol. the balachan chilli is not too spicy for me and is cooked just nice. Not too soggy and it is not too dry for me to go with the rice. i can finish my bowl of rice with this alone!next their beef rendang! this is really good. my first time tasting it and i love it! the beef is super tender after cooking!Next is the spinach toufu with shimiji mushrooms. this is also one of my favorite dish! the toufu is home made , topped with a layer of spinach. The sauce for the toufu goes very well with white rice too!Food : ***Price : ***Customer service : ***Overall, will i come again? Yes

First of all, I must say this outlet is pretty big, easily see 25 tables in total. came by to utilize my Groupon voucher which gives me chicken leg set, one drink and 1 dessert. For drinks, I chose grass jelly which is served with crushed ice instead of cubes and a small pot of sugar syrup is provided, add to sweetness as per desired. The first impression for the chicken leg is better than the nasi lemak. The chicken leg was freshly fried as it was still hot when i cut it. It also comes with sides like cucumber of chilli onion, some achar, some nasi lemak onion chilli mix. The rice was surprising fragrant, much like the usual chicken rice that we eat. I also like the sambal chilli which is left on the table in the holder, though it does not comes with ikan bilis or anchovies in it, it actually compliments the chicken leg and the small side dishes very well. The cendol is highly recommended as well. with lots of red bean, grass jelly and milk. Only gripe is the ice is not fine enough so you still hv to make effort to crush it. But actually letting it melt a bit more then drink it like a beverage is also as good.I did not really like the staff service though, a little too passive, i walk out of the restaurant with them looking away and not even offering a greeting or goodbye.

We ordered char kway teow for lunch when we dined here recently. The char kway teow is pretty tasty having good flavour from the black sauce and not being too overly greasy. It was full of delicious and fresh seafood which added texture and contrasting flavour. However it was too small a portion which meant that I was not full after eating this. The high price of more than $10 is also a deterrent.

Everywhere is pack on a Sunday afternoon, lucky me manage to get a seat at Grandma’s for our lunch. We ordered Nasi Bukhari, according to their menu this is one of the signature dish; Hot, fragrant and spicy rice were pack full with spices flavor. Crispy and juicy chicken thigh was well marinated; beef rendang doesn’t look appealing to me and the taste was palatable. Steam Chicken with was abit cold but the meat is tender. Generous amount of crunchy bean sprout was given but prolong soaking in the sauce makes it salty and oily. Chicken rice was alright. Would come back for the Nasi Bukhari again .

Grandma's is famous for their Nasi Lemak which my mom loves so much she has been constantly bugging me to bring her to eat it after I introduced to her months ago. I finally found time to bring her over to Grnadma's again last week. This time round, beside their Nasi Lemak ($8.90++), I ordered a Spinach Tofu ($12.90++) as I had loved this dish in other restaurants. Grandma's version has impressed me with its appetizing sauce and soft juicy tofu with a crispy yet not oily exterior. The dish is generously covered with mushroom and paired with blanched spinach which is both my favourite. I am sure I can polish 2 bowls of rice with this dish alone.Thought the price can be on the high side, I really like Grandma's for their food has such a homely feel and taste.
