I finally got the chance to meet up ex-colleague after several of attempts to meet up. We decided to meet up at Bedok Point for dinner. It is a walking distance from Bedok MRT Station and it is quite convenient for us who are taking public transport. We decided to go for Bishamon restaurant which is at level 2 of the shopping mall. It is located at the centre of level 2 which can be seen easily once you take the escalator up. We ordered Mini Assari Shio Ramen S$7.30 and Mini Assari Spicy Miso Ramen S$8.80. The soup base taste great with the nice balance in flavour which is not too strong or too bland. My shio ramen soup base is clear and not too salty. I thought the spicy miso ramen will be spicy but it turned out not that spicy as I thought. As for the ramen texture, it was firm and good elastic spring. In addition of our ramen, we ordered Mentaiko Gyoza which comes with 6 pcs S$7.80. It’s a new dish for me as I normally will take gyoza with the traditional shoyu sauce. It turned out to be quite a creative combination. Mentaiko has the creamy texture and it blends into the gyoza ingredients. It wasn’t salty and able to remain the original taste of the gyoza filling. The gyoza skin was not too thick and we can taste the fillings immediately once we put into the mouth.Staffs were quite attentive to us as well. The serving was within 15 minutes time. The crew also mentioned the name of the dish upon serving. It is a good way to serve as customers will tend to ask the name of the dish upon serving. Overall dinner was pleasant with affordable price and food quality. The staff also attended to us promptly. If you are looking for affordable dinner with attentive services, you can consider visiting this branch. continue reading

This is the first time I stepped into a ramen restaurant. I ordered a cha su miso ramen while my friend had Yakiniku Don. We paid $26.70 after taxes without drinks. They served plain water.A bowl of curly noodles in thick broth, topped with a few slices of cha shu (pork loin), bamboo shoots and garnished with some leeks and seaweed. The cha shu was very tasty and tender, it melts in your mouth but the soup is too thick and salty for my liking. The Yakiniku Don is nice. Tender beef slices with onions and some sesame seeds, served with some lettuce and pickled ginger on the rice. continue reading

It's a ramen place but I could make myself ramen at home so why not try something else on the menu. So we ordered Pork Katsu Don and Spider Roll. The Pork Katsu Don was bland and the rice was not steamy and sticky like the Japanese rice. It came with the miso soup which was okay. The soft shell crab in the spider roll was not fresh. It was deep fried a while ago. The Happy Green Tea was not too bad. Service was okay; not very welcoming. Overall experience was not pleasant and therefore, will not go there again. continue reading

I had Sapporo Ramen. Nicely savoury without being overpowering or overly spicy. Not too salty. That is the key thing. The soup base is flavourful. I have tried other Sapporo Ramen, this one is quite close to the authentic one. The char siew slices are very thick but amazingly, they were so tender, they just melted in your mouth. Bishamon also serves curry rice and some appetiser snacks, if you prefer something other than ramen. continue reading
