My friend bought this special looking jelly for us to try:Bubur Hitam Jelly (Black Glutinous Rice Jelly)I'm sure many people are familiar with Bubur Hitam dessert, which is easily available in many dessert stalls, but this is my first time encountering the jelly version! And in a lovely heartshape! Cross-section of the jellyI enjoy Bubur Hitam dessert. My favourite part has got to be the coconut milk which gives the dessert an intense fragrance. I feel that the black glutinous rice portion doesn't have too much taste when it's on its own. So I guess my wish has been granted in this jelly form - the proportion of coconut milk to the black glutinous rice is awesome! I enjoy the fragrance of it, and like it that it is not too sweet. continue reading

We chanced upon Dragon Brand Dessert shop on our way back from Chinatown and were enticed by their interesting dessert offerings – especially the various bird’s nest related ones We eventually ordered the Bird’s Nest with Papaya and Almond ($18 nett) and it was fantastic! The portion was huge given the humble price tag. Contained within half a papaya, the almond paste was smooth and filled with generous servings of bird’s nest which tasted quite authentic (obviously not the top grade ones). Although the papaya was slightly overripe, the overall texture of the dessert was not compromised and suited our palate. Most importantly, it was not too sweet and was a healthy and nourishing dessert to give us reprieve from our hearty lunch! This is definitely a place we’ll return soon for their other interesting desserts continue reading

During lunchtime, i went to explore this place called Dragon Brand Bird's Nest Restaurant. I noticed there are desserts, example, Mango pudding with bird nest. A different combination dessert. But i saw mango pomelo with sago, so i give it a try and taste what is the different compare to other dessert stalls. Good taste with fresh ingredients for Mango Pomelo with Sago (thumbs up). After that i decided to try longevity custard bun, which taste normal and not that fantastic. Hopefully next time i can try the bird nest dessert when i visit again. continue reading
