We visited Pasta Inc on 18 May, lured by the good reviews here and especially by the top review from "Contrarian", without noticing that her review was actually written three years ago in 2009 , and it was rated the "restaurant's favorite review". The prices listed in the review are ALL outdated, eg parma ham with melon costs $18 instead of the $9.80+ that was listed in the review. We had Portobello mushroom, Squid ink pasta. So for that kind of price, I was expecting something of at least above average eg Otto Locanda. But sorely disappointed... For the price you're paying, the food was really substandard. continue reading

If you feel like having fine dining on a big feast for pasta, Past Inc will be an ideal venue for you. The chefs here are very experienced in cooking the finest pasta here. One of my favourite dish will be their seafood spagetite in tomato paste. The spagetite is really chewy and easily breakable. The seafoods in it are really generous which includes fresh mussels, medium prawns and sotongs. The tomato paste used in this dish is really thick and juicy with lots of fresh cubes tomatoes in it. The presentation of it is really nice and the serving to us is also quite fast as well. continue reading

To celebrate a friend’s birthday, we went to Pasta Inc for dinner. I ordered the sea urchin pasta in cream based sauce. It costs $20 for the pasta, quite an average price for pasta in most restaurants. The cream sauce is thick and taste great eaten with the spaghetti. I could not really feel the sea urchin. continue reading

My friend stays in the Tanjong Pagar area, so we decided to have our dinner at Pasta Inc as it was just a 10-min walk and it has quite good food reviews online. From the exterior, Pasta Inc. looks very much like a romantic fine dining restaurant, & we hesitated a bit because it was just 2 of us gals, not a couple! lol...... But anyway since the food prices on the menu don't look too exhorbitant, we decided to go in after 'surveying' other restaurants along the street.Only 2 tables were filled, & they were both couples. Anyhow, we ordered a pasta each, & my friend also ordered a antipasti (appetizer) for herself (prawns hence I couldn't eat).Well I had the penne as I knew if I had the carbonara, it would prove too filling / creamy for me. At first try, the penne taste didn't appeal to me, but as I ate, I started to like the way it was cooked. However I couldn't finish my pasta & had to leave some penne behind while making sure the sausages ended up in my stomach hehe.I had a mouthful of my friend's carbonara & it was quite well done too. But as expected it proved too creamy after a while so my friend also couldn't finish, in fact I think her leftover was more than mine. While we were eating our pasta, the friendly chef came out to us and said he would prepare a special dessert on the house for us.... So nice ya? Take a look at what it is ;) The dessert looks good, isn't it? When I asked the chef what it was called, he said he hadn't named it yet, so if we want, we could help me come up with a name haha. It was actually Tiramisu with a stick of chocolate wafer on top, and cheese topped with cooked pear slices by the side. The pear slices were very sweet! The dessert was very good. Though I wouldn't say this is a must-visit Italian restaurant in town, but the service is pretty good, with nice ambience & reasonable food yet will not burn your pocket. I paid slightly below $25 after adding all the service & GST charges for a very full meal.So if you are in the area, perhaps you can try it out! continue reading

The promotion meal is a 4-course set. For the appetizer, you could choose between the fresh NZ mussels in spicy tomato sauce of Thinly sliced Parma ham wrapped around wedges of sweet rock melon. The mussels dish is quite ordinary, but the parma ham dish is very refreshing, the rock melon is very sweet too. Second course is pasta, you can choose either fettuccine with crabmeat in pink sauce, or linguine cooked with prawns in pesto sauce. I personally prefer the crabmeat pasta. You get a handful of crabmeat, and the sauce tastes good too. Pasta in pesto sauce is slightly oily, but the prawns are very fresh though. For the mains, we have pan-fried chicken coated with egg and parmesan cheese, and pan-fried Dory fish with balsamic vinegar. The Chicken is very well-done. The coating is crispy, but the meat is juicy. The sauce is a surprise too, try that! The Dory tastes so so, and the portion is quite small too. The meal ends with Tiramisu. No wow factor, but not a bad one I would say. continue reading
