ABC Food Centre is a place where you can many many good local food. One of them is Lor Mee.When the Lor Mee came to my table, I was surprise at $3, there were many ingredients given, almost covered the top part of the bowl. There was braised pork, steamed fish, ngor hiam, though I realised there was no egg given. The Lor Mee had nice aroma of braised meat gravy, though the gravy was not as thick as Amoy Food Centre one.The crispy ngor hiam soaked the braised meat gravy and tasted good with the noodles. However, the braised pork was of non fatty type, a bit like tasting chicken breast.Overall, the Lor Mee was good with generous ingredients given at such a price. continue reading

The Yong Zhen Lor Mee stall has been around the ABC Brickworks Market/Food Centre for a long time. Whenever i visit Ikea Alexandra, i will normally drop by to eat a bowl of lor mee. I order a bowl of lor mee with addtional braised egg. The lor mee is cooked perfectly and not too soft, the ingredients in the lor mee was also generous. The braised lor mee sauce was thick and goes well with the noodles. continue reading

This is an very interesting lor mee served by a nice old lady. There were quite a few customers ordering either lor mee or prawn mee at her stall when i was there. I decided to order her lor mee for the first time as i got a feeling it would be quite nice. My feeling proven to be correct. The lor was quite thick and when mixed well with the noodle, it tasted yummilicious. I did not pay extra 0.50 cents to add the lor egg so the ingredients were quite limited. With lor egg or not, this is still a bowl of good lor mee. continue reading

I used to come by this stall for dinner when i stayed in Holland area. I stumbled upon this stall by chance then. It was manned by an old couple at that time. The old auntie would be the one cooking and the old uncle would be the one to serve it. The business usually quite quiet when we were there for late dinner. We decided to show our supports by ordering something from them. And that was how i managed to discover the delicious lor mee served there. I still remember the stall was closed for quite a long while for a period and after they returned i did not see the old uncle whenever i visited and i still did not see him when i revisited this time. The old Auntie was still the one cooking the noodle and she gotten a new assistant. This stall offers Lor Mee together with the dry / soup version of the prawn noodle for $2.50 or $3.00. I ordered the $3.00 portion of Lor Mee. The braised egg is available to be added as an extra for 0.50 cents. My bowl of Lor Mee came with fish meat, braised meat, fish cake, ngor hiang etc. The braised sauce was thick and groovy, it tasted even nicer with the vinegar added together with some red cut chillies. Though this might not be the best Lor Mee that i have ever tasted but it definitely amongst the better ones. It has got that old school taste that made the experience a memorable one each time.I will be coming back more often to eat at this stall before it is gone for good. continue reading
