I went to this hawker centre to buy my breakfast before meeting up with my colleagues. In the mornings, there are quite a bit of people in the hawker centre having their breakfast. This stall is quite popular as I saw quite a few tables having chwee kueh while walking towards the stall. I ordered 4 pieces for takeaway. The chwee kueh is really soft and fresh-tasting probably because it is made from scratch daily by the owners and not mass/factory produced. You can really taste the difference. The preserved radish is also very fragrant. I could smell it while holding my packet and waiting for my friends. The taste is great too, not too saltish and not overly oily. continue reading

Date : 2012-11-13Time of visit : 8pmWhat/Where : Pan Bakeries Specialties @ Bedok Interchange Food CentreWhat we had : Chwee KuehAverage cost/pax : $1Ambience : Crowded/noisy. This place has always been the same since I first stepped here in the 90s.This place has provided hundreds of residents in the area their daily meals and take-aways.Old drunk uncles chit chatting happily away with their pals and the hawkers themselves. Some may find this place a little "dirty" but it's more because of the lack of "manpower" to clean it up as people come, dine, and go real quick. It's quite hot at times just like the other hawker centres.Service : Prompt delivery upon payment.Friendly auntie.Portion : Fresh, steaming, soft, fragrant, generous portion and priced cheap! Chwee Kueh is one of my childhood meals and this is one of the best ones I've ever tasted, they turn 16 years old soon (Date of birth on their sign board). The "chai poh" is very fine/appetizing and not very oily like the usual ones and goes well with the perfectly steamed chwee kueh that does not have the dried up rims around the edges like most stalls do! Truly one of our favourites!Location : It's at Bedok Interchange. Super convenient. As of the current date , the area is under heavy renovation especially the car park. I believe they're building new bigger ones. So there's limited lots. What's good in particular : Perfect tasting/priced comfort food. What's bad in particular : None!ABiteOfEverything.com continue reading

This is a popular stall with a lot of franchise. There are a lot of customers, especially in the morning for breakfast. The minimum number is 4 pieces for $1 - very affordable. The preserved vegetable is salty and sweet, goes very well with the chwee kueh and they are very generous with it. This makes the breakfast very appetizing, though it is quite oily. Not to be eaten too often, but it is nice to indulge once in a while. continue reading
