My last post on this stall is so long ago! I recently frequented this stall again and prices have increased. The pastry now costs $2 from $1.30 on my last review. Although it is much pricier now, I will still buy it since it is not often that I will be around this area. The size of the pastry remains the same and the taste is still as good as I have remembered. The filling of slightly saltish mung bean paste complements the exterior very well as the filling is soft while the exterior pastry is slightly hard. I wished I have gotten two packets of 4 though as the one pack is finished within the day of buying it. continue reading

Complimentary from my business partner, which I am glad to taste it as this is my first time trying the mooncakes from this famous confectionary shop at Bukit Merah. The packaging looks very simple and traditional, which I suppose the traditional feel always make the food taste more unique and good. Before I taste it, I was able to smell the buttery smell of the crunchy golden brown pastries. Inside is filled with not too sweet and smooth white lotus paste, which blend in well with the fresh salted egg yolks in it. The generous amount of fresh crunchy walnuts topped on it added that extra crunch to this yummy pastries too. continue reading

continue reading

Whenever I go to IKEA, I will buy some of the pastries from this stall. This is quite famous and one stall which I always patronize in the past. There are many pastries and even egg tarts. I got this salted bean pastry. It is priced at $1.30. The pastry only keeps for a few days, which means it is very fresh and does not have preservatives. What I like is that the filling is just rightly saltish and the exterior is soft to the bite and the whole pastry is just very delicious. It is a must buy for me everytime! continue reading

i thought i prefers very thick pastry for the wife biscuit but actually the ones here are too thick. it's like eating a pudding pie because the filling was thick and the pastry was thick. it's good because it doesn't flake and fall apart to nothing during transportation. but it would be better a bit thinner. the taste was great. very fragrant and fresh and you can feel and tastes chunks of wintermelon. the price is alright too. not too bad. recommended. they have lots of other pastries and they sell mooncakes even when it's not mooncake season! yay! continue reading
