We went back to Moluccas Room for dinner again! This time round, we ordered the Tahu Telur ($15). The fried tofu and egg is served with shredded fresh cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, ground peanut, and finally drizzled with thick, caramelized vinegar gravy. Sinful yet good. Confit sakura ayam tuturaga ($27) is a must try dish! The boneless chicken is cooked with a light citrusy curry gravy, very tasty! I love the curry, slightly sweet yet flavourful from spices and herbs. And the chicken is ridiculously tender and juicy! Thumbs up! Ayam bakar kecap urap-urap ($29) is quite alright. The grilled herbed caramelized chicken is served with coconut spiced seasonal vegetables, good flavour to go with rice. Ikan bakar Jimbaran ($35) is one of the signature dish on the menu. The sweet and spicy freshly grilled Baramundi fish fillet is served with lots of refreshing sauteed baby tomatoes. Light and ladies will love this heaps. Dessert wise, we had the Harmonious trio Moluccas dessert ($15). It's probably the best dessert to order if you are new to Moluccas Room, since you get to try their three different type of signature dessert on one go. The plate consists of Srikaya creme brulee, Serabi Pandan, coconut ice-cream. Of the three, my favourite has to be the creme brulee! Smooth texture with rich egg fragrant, and the glazed sugar on top. Love it! Homemade traditional Indinesian ice-cream and sorbet ($8) is another signature dessert. The selection of homemade Indonesian flavoured ice-cream and sorbets is served with the tiny cute macaron! Gorgeous and tasty. It's definitely a beautiful meal, as always promised by Moluccas Room! continue reading

The Moluccas Room is an Indonesian fine dining restaurant which Chef Alicia Tivey marriage both French and Indonesian cuisine bringing Indonesian cuisine to another new level. After reading several food tasting reviews of this place, I brought my partner to The Moluccas Room for her birthday.Four different types of sambal (Shallots, Ginger, Chopped Chilli and Garlic) greeted us on our table. The floor manager introduced us that the sambal was to be eaten with the chips. My favourite was the Shallots Sambal. After placing our orders, we were served the Amus Bouche which was curry chicken on top of a cracker. The pleasant surprise of the flavour from the curry chicken gave a hint the style and approach of the chef's cooking.Next we had their Signature Sate. There were 7 different type of Sate on their menu. We went for the Sate Ayam Madura which is an Eastern Java delicacy of grilled chicken tenders served with creamy roasted peanut sauce. The meat was really tasty and flavourful without the sauce. For appertiser we had Kepiting Soka Acar Kuning. The crispy soft shell crab with sweet and sour turmeric spice infused vegetables and pineapple pickle was a delight to the palate. For my main course, I had Angus Steak Rendang, a tender beef steak tenderloin topped with an extremely flavourful Javanese style rendang curry sauce. The rendang sauce was kind of mild but having said that it did not overshadow the piece of premium beef. The Angus Steak was so good that I can eat it without any sauce. There were many good reviews for their Confit Sakura Ayam Tuturage, a light citrusy confit chicken curry from the Northern Sulawesi so I asked my partner to order it. We were lost for words to describe the sauce. It was very good. The chicken was also very tender. continue reading

I went to marina bay sands with my family. We were walking around cannot decide what to eat. My sister suggested we try out this Indonesian restaurant called The Moluccas Room for dinner. Upon placing our orders, we were served with a spoonful of pickled vegetables with sour and spicy sauce. The waitress told us it was on the house. We started the meal with satay. Their satay is pretty much different from our local stalls, they too have beef and chicken but for the sauces, the usual peanut sauce is nowhere in sight. There were two kinds of sauces, each for each meat. One thing I have to point out is that the satay taste so good. both the chicken and beef are cooked exceptionally well, it is so tender and juicy. Every bite you take, the juice will ooze out. Then we had this miniature popiah. The skin was so delicate and thin. It breaks quite easily so when you eat it, you have to be careful. The filling was very juicy and tasty. I love the sauce in it, sweetish and very tasty. On the same plate, there was this egg plant with prawn. The prawn was very fresh. It was sweet and succulent and cooked perfectly. The egg plant was really juicy as well. The sauce is really tasty. I am not really an egg plant fan but this egg plant made me wanna eat more.I ordered the rendang steak as my main course. I never expected steak to have such sauce. The rendang is not the same as those we find at nasi padang stalls, their rendang sauce is much more watery but the flavor is indeed wholesome. The steak was so tender and juicy. I ordered medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. Mouth melting! The dessert was my favourite and indeed the highlight of the meal. There was coconut ice cream, banana and thin biscuit. The sauce taste really good. it was a little sweet but really suits my palette. I really enjoyed the food here. continue reading

I went to marina bay sands to watch wicked with my hubby. Before that we headed to The Moluccas Room for some Indonesian fine dining. My hubby decided to order the Istana Set Meal for the two of us. There were many course, one of which was the satay. There were two kinds of satay, one chicken and one beef. I was surprised to find that they have different dipping sauce. The meat was really good, the beef was very chewy and succulent. The chicken on the other hand was tender and juicy. Then there was some popiah like dish, I love the ultra thin skin. The filling inside was very juicy and tasty. It was sweetish too. For the main I chose the angus beef, it was surprising cooked in rendang sauce. The meat was cooked perfectly to how I requested it. I was so impressed! The food here is really good but it is a little pricey. continue reading

I went to the Moluccas room with my girlfriend for a nice fine dining experience. We both had the Istana Dinner set meal. One thing I must command on this restaurant other than the delicious food they served is the location. It is located just opposite the merlion. The view is scenic especially at night. The light up of the various building at the central business district was very breath taking. The food there is exquisite, however you must be able to take spicy food as most of the dishes on the menu consist of a certain amount of spiciness. For the main course, we were able to choose between the angus steak in redang or sweet and spicy fish. We both selected the steak. I love to have my steak medium well. they really cooked it perfectly. I have never ate a steak in redang sauce and it was really good. The redang sauce was very tasty and it brought out the flavour of the steak, it was indeed a fusion of flavours. There were other courses like their satay. There was one stick of chicken satay and one stick of beef satay. Each had its own dipping sauce. The meat was very tender and juicy by far the best satay I have ever eaten. This place is very suitable to take a date to, the service is fantastic and the ambience is awesome. continue reading
