These famous egg tarts are not really to my liking. The amount of filling and thickness of crust were all alright. The crust is very flaky and crispy I think, but I feel that there will be a sour aftertaste when you bite into the crust. If not, it is not bad overall but price is steeper as compared to other egg tarts. continue reading

Tong Heng is one of my favorite shops to get some decent pastries. They sell a delectable range of pastries and confectioneries.I often get their diamond-shaped Egg Tarts and Barbequed Pork Crisps. The pastry skin for the egg tart is soft and flaky and coupled with the smooth custard. The barbequed pork crisp is also another crumbly pastry filled with bbq pork meat. I like the crumbly texture with the pork. Both desserts are not too sweet and it definitely a favourite among the young and old. continue reading

Tong Heng is well liked for its finely baked pastries / delicacies especially its egg tarts. As we walked near the kiosk located at the extreme end of Jurong point 1 there weren't any tarts in the display refrigerator. As a return customer, we knew there are 2 available tart flavours that tong heng offers. The shop assistants mentioned that all the tarts were sold out. Left with no other closer choice, I bought a box of 6 Char Siew (barbeque pork) crisp with their recommendation from its tag "must try". Evenly baked in golden brown with glossy outlook and few tiny bits of sesame seeds on it.As I tore the bar of BBQ pork crisp apart, I noticed that it actually consist of thin layers of crisp, in between stuffed with succulent flattened BBQ pork. These few bites of the bars were made difference by the crispiness of the pastries and its BBQ Pork Filling's sweetness. One of the most wanted traditional Chinese snack, Ask for More! continue reading

The piping hot egg tart really makes my day as the crust is crispy on the outside and the custard is smooth and soft on the inside. The egg tart is also not too sweet and does not leave an after-taste after eating it. While chewing, you can smell the aroma of the custard. This a definitely a must-have snack for the afternoon tea. Hence, I would strongly recommend this dessert as it is a good tea-time snack. continue reading

I mad love the egg tarts from tong heng, I bought a box of five home and before I could snap a picture, I gave into temptation and finish one. Their egg tart is unlike the normal round shape egg tart, it is shaped in a unique diamond shape. The pastry is also different from most egg tart, theirs is much more softer and more flakey. The custard is not too sweet too. I like the buttery taste of the pastry, it is just so delicious. I ate 3 of the 5 by the way. continue reading
