Signature Dishes
Sheng Kee Dessert always has a very wide range of desserts to choose from. However for me I prefer to have their minced pork rice rolls ($3.60) over their signature desserts. The rice rolls are very smooth and thin in texture. With the juicy minced pork meat which is cooked with dark sweet sauce that make it very flavourful and delicious. The combination was good and portion was quite alright as well. Service was fast but not really that friendly. Restaurant was quite squeezy and uncomfortable.

Back at Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert again. This time, I'm here with 2 colleagues for late lunch after doing month-end closing at work. Didn't eat alot cos we're attending company's Lunar 7th month dinner later in the evening. Fried Fish Skin is super crispy & the sauce on top of it is sweet. Would be nice if there's more sauce. They also add on some floss on it. Braised Beef Noodle. Noodles very springy & beef is very tender. Radish is also very soft.Spring Roll with Prawn, Salted Egg & Century Egg. Taste a bit bland & skin is soggy, not crispy.

After my grocery shopping at Cold Storage, I decided to drop by at Hong Kong Sheng Kee to pickup a couple of snacks for tea break at Tampines One.Their August promotion was to choose any 2 selected dish for S$4.80.I ordered the Sheng Kee Signature Pau (Big Pau) and the Yam Cake. The texture of the Pau is soft. There is a reasonable amount of pork and egg in the pau which is quite tasty.Whereas for the Yam Cake the portion is small and the taste quite bland. The deep fried shallots topping on the yam cakes are very hard. I would taste better without the topping of the shallots.I loved Waterchestnut cakes. So I ordered two sets. Two pieces for each set at S$2.90. There were too little waterchestnut on the cakes and the taste is also bland. I was in a hurry to go off and I regretted for not checking on my orders before leaving the place.I only had one box of Waterchestnut cake instead of two boxes. I tried calling the outlet when I reached home but their phone line Tel: 64838123 was switched to fax mode.I gave up after trying five times over an hour.A lesson thought – always remember to check my orders before leaving the outlet.

I was craving for some desserts the other day during tea time and decided to drop by Sheng Kee. They have a variety of traditional desserts and also mango desserts like mango pomelo sago, etc, although Honeymoon desserts have more choices (and also much more expensive). I got the common mango pudding, which costs $3.90. Pudding was alright, a little tangy and not too soft or soggy, and it goes well with the milk drizzled on it.

As the shop name seems to indicate desserts as their specialty, I have only tried their desserts so far like the Mango Pomelo Sago, Almond Sesame Paste etc., but not their mains before. This time, I came here for dinner with my mom! I ordered the Braised Beef Noodles (Dry) which consists of chunks of beef and tendon. The beef was tender and flavorful I did not actually expect their mains to be good as well.We also ordered the Custard Buns to share and this is a must-try! As I slowly break the bun into half, I can see the piping hot molten lava filling inside and the salted egg yolk and sweet custard is a yummy combination. Very savoury! I am definitely coming back here to try their other food items!
