Had heard about the opening of a new steamboat establishment via openrice's edm and being an avid steamboat lover, I finally decided to try it out.In summary, the overall steamboat experience was an utter letdown, for the following reasons:1. The sauces available were simply a joke. There was only vinegar, chopped chilli padi, chopped spring onions, chopped parsley and 1 other which I can't remember what it was. There was NO light soy sauce or chilli sauce at all, we had to ask the waitress for it and she took a while to return with 1 sauce tray of light soy sauce and a small pump of bottled "maggi" chilli sauce.2. Fish head soup base was very fishy.3. Wild mushroom soup base was a tad salty.4. Food menu is acceptable with the usual steamboat items available but seriously, it doesn't make sense to comment on the food since they are served uncooked in original form.5. Price = Disgustingly steep for the quality! Our S$125 bill includes: 2 individual soup bases, 8 tiger prawns, pork collar, chicken, chef vegetable platter, sea cucumber, enoki mushroom, fish slices, and a pot of chinese tea.6. Trival shortcomings include: no wet tissue and no separate spoon other than the small metal scoop provided to scoop out your cooked food (but I supposed it's meant for dua use). For an establishment to provide steamboat as its themed cuisine, King Pot doens't understand and wasn't able to provide the prerequisites needed to offer an enjoyable steamboat meal. Will not return and will not recommend anyone to try it. continue reading

Nice location at East Coast where one can take a stroll along the beach before and after meal.Hotel style presentation and service provides customer with good attention. The restaurant was not crowded. However the restaurtant air conditioning was not cooling enough for hotpot eaters. The servicing portion of food is little vs the price. Fixed portion with no selection of preference for each item. The choice of a raw ingredients introduced in menu comes in fixed portion. There is a selection of soup for the hotpot which taste surprising saturated. The raw ingredients are fresh. Cooked in the small hotpot has advantage of brewing nice soup compared to the bigger pots in normal restaurants. continue reading

Was recommended this place by a friend that its supposed to be a more "atas" steamboat place. A friend was in town so brought him to try it out, since its a pretty good location at east coast park and with a chill out place just nearby. we were the 1st customer there, but at 6pm you wouldn't be surprised . First impression is the place looks pretty posh, though they did retain pretty much the old layout of Indian Times. Table setting was more for fine dining and nice silverware, the steamboat grill heater was brand new as well, that was a good start. Initially they were playing Cantonese songs but was changed to more classy music after we sat down, didn't really fine the music matching to the environment though. Moving on to the food, we ordered the combo platter of seafood and meat and additional beef ball. It did not came with crab though. I must say when the dishes were served, they were nicely presented, even the vege came in nice glass holder. We tried both the herbal chicken and mushroom soup base. Herbal soup wins hands down with the mushroom one tasting a little bland. They also offer 2 special sauces to go along, i prefer the house special sauce but have no idea whats its made of (think its sesame sauce plus some bean paste). Food wise i thought its average but made up with the nice table settings and posh environment. the beef meat balls were not really to my killing though. Still with its ambiance, its a nice place for a quick catch up over dinner for 2-3pax i guess. If i have to complain about anything, it will be the aircon, i was sweating half way thru but was much better after the staff turn it up. continue reading

Went to the restaurant with my friends. This was a different kind of steamboat experience for me because this was a restaurant that gave me a high-class 'atas' kind of feeling. The restaurant was decorated nicely with pretty chandeliers and setting. It got me in the mood to dine once I enter the restaurant. Servings in individual pots was a plus point for me because I could order any soup base I like without having to think about others. We each ordered a different soup base to try out their different flavours. I ordered the mushroom soup base as i wanted to try a blend of Western-Fusion style steamboat. It was really creamy, thick and delicious. It also went well with the all meat set that I have ordered. They also had the vegetarian set which my vegetarian friend ordered. The ingredients were fresh and what makes me really enjoy the food was the special sauce that they provided. There was a salad counter for you to mix the sauces. They had an option to top up the food so we each ordered extra ingredients. The staff were cordial and the food was served promptly and they were quick to answer our orders. We spent an average of $33 per person.Overall, it was an enjoyable dinner experience and we hope to go back down to try different soup bases that they offer such as beef consomme, minestrone , laska and bak kut teh. continue reading

I visited this restaurant with my family recently. I am a very avid lover of Steamboat and I must say this Steamboat dinner exceeded my expectations. TasteThis restaurant specialises in its signature sauces and soup base. They are a must try! Be it if you are a spicy soup-based lover or someone that goes for a nutritious broth. Their steamboats does not come in a big pot where everyone shares the steamboat! Everyone has an individual pot of steamboat and their special pot cooks the ingredients well. My family members ordered the laksa soup base because they really love laksa. Being a food lover, I decided to have a spoonful of the laksa steamboat. It really goes well with the ingredients. A must try for the bak kut teh lovers is their bak kut teh based steamboat. It is very nutritious and full of flavour!Environment I really loved the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was conducive for dining and a great place to have a group gathering or a family dinner ( in my case.) I heard they have VIP rooms available too!ServiceTheir staff were warm and friendly and prompt to answer to the customer's demand. They gave me an enriching experience. PriceWe ordered the exclusive set dinner. It cost us around $30 per pax. Whats more convenient is that I was able to use mastercard to pay for it.We are definitely heading down to try more flavours and indulge in other set meals for our next family dinner! continue reading
