It was my friend A's advance birthday celebration We wanted to give her a sweet treat hence we decide to bring her to Awfully Chocolate! It was our first time trying their White Chocolate Butterscotch Block and Chocolate Tart I think they look quite good from first impressions! We love the sweet-salty butterscotch on the White Chocolate Butterscotch Block! As for the white chocolate part, we find it too creamy like. The Chocolate Tart wasn't as good as expected too, i was a tad disappointed It was bitter, not sweet at all Overall it was just ok continue reading

Awfully Chocolate at the star vista is quiet and furnished comfortably. I especially liked the high ceiling and the semi-industrial feel of the walls and the countertop. Here, you can get not only a rich chocolate fix, but also pig out on their famous hei ice cream, paired with coffee. We went for the Salted Caramel Brownie ($7) and the double scoop hei ($8)The salted caramel makes all the difference in this chewy brownie thats good down to the very last morsel. A tasty contrast of savoury and caramel, the gooey caramel complements the brownie. While the brownie is slighly flat, the chewy taste justifies its flatness. It's less fluffy than I would have liked but the texture went well with the caramel. This surprisingly wasn't too sweet for me, but I doubt i'll be able to finish off one brownie slice alone! The famous hei ice cream is made from their very own dark chocolate. One scoop goes for $4.50 while 2 scoops are $8 so you should definitely grab a friend and share this. Two scoops are more than sufficient because the scoops are so generously dolloped! The ice cream isnt thick to the point where it borders on powdery, the distinct chocolateyness is there, and it has a quality which is rich and not too milky. I liked that it was slightly bitter However, you do get sick of the taste cos its so rich! There is no service charge or GST, and ordering is at the counter. The chocolate creations here are definitely above average, and I would say that the hei ice cream is worth a try since someone like me (who never eats chocolate ice cream) liked this ice cream. My fav would still go to the brownie though! Salted caramel always goes well with chocolate. continue reading

Checking out one of their newest outlets at The Star Vista. It's the first time I'm actually looking at their menu. Cute on a corkboard base. But I guess their desserts speak for themselves.A hot day out calls for nothing other than an ice cream.Their super premium dark chocolate ice cream made with natural ingredients. A blend of their own chocolate and Belgian dark chocolate (min. 70% cocoa solids), real eggs, fresh milk and pure cream. The low air content makes the ice cream very rich and dense and you're tasting a lot more chocolate, a lot less sugar. That made me a happy camper. At just $4.90. I'd have this over B&Js anyday. continue reading

For a birthday celebration in my family, My aunt bought an awfully chocolate to celebrate the occasion. I quite liked the cake as it was very moist yet having the intense chocolate taste at the same time. The chocolate fudge was quite rich and smooth however I felt more fudge would make the cake nicer. Overall though a nice simple chocolate cake for a simple family gathering. continue reading

Being a fan of awfully chocolate's ice cream, I have never fail to get a scoop whenever I patronize the store. However, I wanted to try something else this time round and i ordered the creme brulee. To my utmost disappointment, it tasted quite bad. I have expected the custard to be covered with a thin layer of sugar crust but there was none. I assumed the sugar had melted and thus blended together with the custard. The custard on the other hand tasted like gelatin. I thought the texture is supposed to be slightly softer. continue reading
