I have read the review in Lianhe Zaobao and know the cartilage soup is the signature dish of Old Hong Kong Kitchen. Finally I found a time to try the cartilage soup steamboat today. It is really a quality food. Price is also very very low, compared with the price. I did try the one selling in Hua Ting Chinese Restaurant. Frankly speaking, Old Hong Kong is much much better than Hua Ting. You can taste the supreme taste and feel the collagen benefits. Prawns and scallops are very fresh. Many diff kinds of vegetables and mushrooms. I am sure it is one of the best in town. The ingredients used here are very fresh. Must try! continue reading

I guess it's an auspicious dish, so many people would order the suckling pig on a gathering. This one was huge, and well done, the skin crispy thin although very fatty, with a thick layer of fats beneath. I think the suckling pig from old hong kong is comparable to that of ah yat at turfcity. We also had the roast chicken, which was quite nicely roasted and went well with the sauce they provided. continue reading

This is the place where my elder sister friend recommended to try it out. So we went down to the Ang Mo Kio Branch of Mellben Seafood. The waiting time is 1 hour - 1hour 30 mins. So do make sure that you reached early to get the seats. Chilli Crab was my best! I love the sauce. Yum* We ordered the small bun so that we can make use of the chilli sauce! Crab with Glass Noodle. We had ordered rice earlier on, so we didn't manage to finish the glass noodle. It's a waste if you have ordered rice!Yam Ring. YES! Cereal Prawn! Thumb up! It's very crispy! Love it lots! Butter Crab! I don't really like this dish as the sauce turn out to be very sweet .. But my elder sister love it. so we ordered it.Look at the crowd, it's only 5pm and the crowd is coming all in. And the queue is super long! Total bill was a shocked! But we do enjoy the meal. 1 person per head was estimated $30-40+? There's a total of 6 person. continue reading

In the mood for soup. It's a permanent mood.Sharksfin -Melon- Crabmeat soup.Visible morsels of crab meat.Diced vegetables. And savoury thick soup.Does wonders for the appetite.Triple mixed meat platter. The duck was the star*Crisp skin, ohsodeliciously indulgent layer of fat and tender braised meat. The char siew (BBQ Pork) was lean but I'd have much preferred more generously charred edges. The roast pork although lacklustre in color, more than made up for itself in taste and texture.Crisp thick layer of skin, lean meat and just that little bit of fat in between. All gone in a bit! Handmade cuttlefish pieces with beancurd skin and assorted mushrooms. The cuttlefish pieces were bland but the sauce complemented it perfectly. This was a recommended signature, but I'd recommend some other beancurd dish though. And these lipsmackingly delish fillets of cod.So there were three of us.And no I didn't just stop at one.Exercising absolute control- I had one and a half.There. I shared. But of course if I could, I would have...Dinner was $142 for three with rice, tea and dessert. Yes it was pricey but well worth every cent! Ho sek! continue reading
