This version of fish maw soup in more towards the clearer version unlike the usual thick version which is similar to the sharkfin soup. However I feel that the combination of the fish maw and the white lotus does not really blend in well together. The soup taste abit bland and does not look attractive or even smell good at all. Think there is still rooms for improvement for this soup. continue reading

This is one of my mother's favourite dish from this Chinese restaurant and occasionally I will invite her over to that restaurant to treat her a nice meal. As usual, I have bought this dish for her to eat again. The abalone is very chewy and really tender and fresh. The chinese mushroom is also very fragrant and easy to chew. Together with the crunchy China chye sim and cooked in their signature in-house sauce, this dish is really delightable and very tasty. continue reading

They offer an unbelievable 50% off during weekday or 40% off during weekend for their dim sum menu.Sound so unbelievable isnt it?Not a uncommon scene to see here packed with people during weekend for their dim sum.I must say this is one of the more value for money restaurant around.Since it was at 50% off, the dim sum spree begins:1) Siew Mai - Pretty good. Prawns was crunchy and chewy. But perhaps not the best around2) Har Gao - Similar to siew mai, their prawns were quite fresh.3) Pan fried carrot cake - A little tad oily but still passable. Crispy on the outside, moist inside.4) Char Siew Bao - Skin was soft and fluffy enough. Charsiew paste was quite ok.5) Xiao long bao - Too thick for my liking.6) Chee cheong fun - Not too bad, suitable for myt taste.Overall I think it offer a rather decent range of dim sum at a very generous discounted price. Not a very big eater on dim sum, so i guess ala carte with the 50% are more suitable for me than buffet! continue reading

Ah Yat seafood is having the 50% off all seafood during weekday. The promotion since last year or even earlier. Tried few times and the promotion is still on till no end date.... haha. The drunk prawn soup is cooked in craypot. Very fresh and goes with the light soy sauce. They mixed the sauce with small chili padi and spring onion. Sri Lanka crab we choose to use chicken oil steam. It's like steam egg. Very smooth and nice. no extra cost incurred. Bamboo clam steam with garlic is perfect combination and also their chef recommendation. The seafood is considered cheap after the 50% discount. Hope they can keep on having the promotion... haha continue reading
