This stall offers a wide range of Japanese food. I have chosen the chicken cutlet rice set which comes with a salad, as well as the miso soup. The chicken cutlet was well cooked, has a crispy skin and the chicken has a tender texture. Although the chicken cutlet is being deep fried, it does not taste oily. The mayo sauce goes very well with the chicken cutlet. As for the salad, it has a very crunchy texture, very refreshing salad. Lastly, I think that the miso soup is a little too salty for me. But overall, quite a good meal for lunch.  continue reading

I went ahead to try this only because there is a "chef recommendation" on the sign board. There are only 3 pieces of fried chicken and 2 pieces of the breaded fish. The amount of rice is alot and few piece of potato too.The chicken is tender and the fish is nice, not over fried and meaty. The curry source is not sweet nor spicy. Japanese curry are usually sweet. continue reading

It is always great for a canteen to offer a wide variety of cuisines and to know that the canteen offers choices at super affordable prices. The NUS engineering canteen is the perfect answer for a good cheap meal! The Japanese Stall is a rather new stall compared to the rest of the stalls being around for over a year or 2. However, it is really disappointing that despite the excitement that Japanese cuisine is offered in the canteen, I think I would have been better off having another chinese or muslim stall. The Japanese food here is completely not worth mentioning. The curry rice i ordered looks rather easy on the eyes but once you got to eat it, you will start believing the other side of the story. The miso soup is weirdly sour the day I drank it and yes, once is enough and I will never buy it again. The curry weird as well and if you are looking for some serious japanese cuisine, do look some place else. The opening promotion seems eternally there. continue reading
