I'm back after a super long break!Life's been pretty good and I've been chilling out a lot lately cos its vacation period! Tried out soo many different food places other than the usual and i have so much to share! Went for an interview in town last week and mother accompanied me Truly pampered. Anyways, we decided to head to tanglin mall cos i heard they opened a Tam Buah Mas branch there recently only to realised that it was at tanglin shopping centre and not tanglin mall....So we walked over to tanglin shopping centre..The place looked pretty good and I must say I was really satisfied with their service. Looks scrumptious right?!Well......it wasnt all that.Firstly, nothing was piping hot.It was too cold. The sayur lodeh was too watery and the kang kong had too much belachan. As for the rendang, it totally didnt taste like rending AT ALL.It tasted like normal beef and mother and I were super disappointed.I've tried their food when they had an outlet at marina square before and it was SUPER good..So,i guess it's just this outlet?Planning to go to their outlet at paragon and i'll do a review soon after continue reading

It was my husband's birthday. We wanted to dine out for dinner and choose an Indonesian restaurant nearer to my place. Answer to that was Tambuah Mas. It was a Thursday. The stretch outside Tanglin Shopping Centre was quite deserted. The exterior and interior of the restaurant was seemly. They do not have an extensive menu but you can get all the other regular dishes.Buah Belinjau Chips and flour coated fried peanutsWe were served belinjau chips (slightly bitterly tasting) and peanuts for starters. Some of the chips were not crispy. Nevertheless, that did not stop us from munching and finishing them in no time. Yes, they were replenished. Our food was served in less than five minutes after we had placed our order. Hmm... good or bad? All they had to do was to reheat and serve us? We celebrated the birthday in an unconventional way - candle on tahu telur. Chunky pieces of crispy tofu topped with shredded cucumber. This serving was more than sufficient for five of us. Perkedel Kentang / Potato CutletIt was quite dry and cold. It should have been more moist with crispy bits of onions and chilli.Beef RendangI did not mention another reason for selecting Tambuah Mas, did I? It is this dish, Rendang, which I had enjoyed and loved when I had it at Tambuah Mas, Marina Square some years back. That outlet has since been closed down. I was expecting the same or at least something close to that taste. The dish was dry (I presume it was due to overheating). The coconut milk and kerisik kelapa/coconut paste should give a signature taste and aroma to the dish. Well, well... I was disappointed I am still sourcing for THAT rendang dish that would leave me yearning for more.Sambal BelacanThis was a bomb! Try this only if your tolerance level to chilli is 6 and above on the scale of 1-10.ChendolOrdinary tasting.Dining at Tambuah Mas was quite a pleasant experience. The service is good. Pricing of food is reasonable. Can go once. continue reading

Ikan Pepes,Spice marinated seabass fillet, enveloped in banana leaves and grilled. The Ikan Pepes is a must order whenever I patronize Tambuah Mas! This is really good. You get well proportioned chunks of fish meat and not just the paste (at some restaurants) and it’s really flavorful.Satay Ayam / Kambing/ Sapi Skewered chicken / lamb / beef chunks, charred over open flame, Served with onions and cucumbers and our homemade peanut sauce (Half Dozen)Perhaps, the Satay at Tambuah Mas is not as cheap as the stalls at Lau Pa Sat, but the version here is definitely worth every penny! The satay here is not presented with small portions or fatty, cheaper cuts of meat that are now associated with the versions sold elsewhere. Of course, that said, with increased competition and rising costs (both of ingredients and of commercial reasons), I can completely understand the cost-cutting measures. continue reading

Es Teler is from a indonesian reciepe that consists of fresh coconut juice with shaved ice, avocado, jackfruit and sliced fresh coconut. Is quite rich in taste especially with the jackfruit in it and you will surely love this drink with all these tropical fruits in it. This is one of the best I've tried so far and most importantly both the coconut juice and it's flesh must be fresh. I will usually get one when I'm in this area. It costs $5 plus for one. continue reading

It was my first time at Tambuah Mas. I've never been here at all. I thought Tanglin Shopping was a very quiet place for such awesome food. When I went, it was in the evening and we were the only customers. The service was very good, food didn't take too long to be served and FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. I've always loved tahu telur and this place sells really awesome Tahu telur. Tahu telur is beancurd fried with egg and then served with strips of cucumber and peanut sauce. It was really good, I ordered another plate of it. The yellow rice here was moist and really nice. Been some time since I ate yellow rice! Also, we ordered satay and I forgot to take a picture of that, but the satay was definitely one of the best satays I've ever tasted! However, I noticed the tables for this outlet were very big. This time I came with my lecturers and friends so there were 12 of us sitting at one huge table. I'm thinking of coming back with my bestfriend but maybe not to this outlet since it looks like it's more for huge families. I'm so going to try going to the Marina Square or the Paragon outlet! continue reading
