Segar Village is a stone throw away from the Sports Hub and Kallang MRT. This is the likes of Kampong Chai Chee and Habibie tze char that serves Halalcertified food with influence of Chinese flavours. As the name suggest (Segar which means 'fresh' in Malay), food are only served with fresh ingredients prepared by skillful chefs, thus assured of quality.Besides operating as a regular tze char venue, Segar Village is open for functions and occasions with the ability to host 100 pax.I've tried a number of dishes before, therefore I wouldn't go into detail for every one of them. However, the general consensus of this Segar Village is positive and highly recommended. You may check out their full menu HERE too.Overall, this is a conducive for family gatherings and child friendly. Price is reasonable with wide choice of food.Full review at http://lepakwithyaops.com/segar-village-halal-certified-halal-thai-chinese-tze-char-at-kallangFollow Lepak With Yaops on Instagram and Facebook

Part of the P2E Group, Segar Restaurant which is known for similar tzechar concepts such as West Co’z Cafe and A-Poh Kitchen. Menu revolves around tzechar favourites, and a small selection of desserts as well.First to arrive the table was Sambal Kang Kong. Mediocre at best, the only problem we had with it was the initial saltiness of the dish, but dig in more and the spiciness will eventually start to sink in.Fu Yong Omelette came with crisp edges and a fluffy interior. What left us slightly confused was the runny consistent in the centre; was it left that way deliberately or not cooked through? Apart from that, we also found that they were pretty miserable with the condiments inside as well.Sweet and Sour Fish Slices were also a wee bit miserable in portion. While the sweet and sour sauce was mediocre at best, its worth noting that the fish was fresh and the fried batter was really crispy despite doused in sauce. We love Salted Egg Yolk Prawns, but the gravy was not thick enough as the flavour seemed to stop short somewhere. Also, the gravy was not really mixed onto the prawns, leaving both ingredients very much on their own. Did not find the wetness of the prawns particularly appealing as well. For a sweet end, we went with the Steamed Tapioca. Served chilled, the softened Tapioca pieces absorbed the thick coconut milk, which made it pretty flavourful and appropriate as the sweet treat to end the meal. For more photos and the full review, please visit: http://jiaksimipng.wordpress.com/2014/09/21/segar-restaurant-chinatown-point/

Hanging around at Chinatown area, we settled our dinner at Segar Restaurant. Halal Thai Food cum Asian Delight eatery, patron was spoilt for choices with extensive mouthwatering dishes in their Menu. Simple décor with bright lightning, the fixtures were all organized and well-arranged. Service rather prompt, we easily caught staffs attention by waving hand. Environment was relaxing, not bad dining spot in the town.Singaporean’s favourite dish, we ordered as our main food. Slightly different with other places else as it replaced meat by chicken, there was no pork lard added. Fragrance of wok-burning was still there, delicious without any greasiness. Kway Teow was succulent appetizing, magically perked up my taste buds with its endless aromatic flavour.Combination of herbs and spices were perfect blend, decent savoury and pipping hot as it served. Diluted version where the soup was mild-spicy and not too strong-taste, too bad I prefer thick tangy soup. Ingredients included chicken breast, tofu, mushrooms, fish cakes and assorted veggies, portion was quite generous. The dish was catered more to local appetite, silky soft tofu was steamed first before drizzled along with darkening soy sauce. Healthy without adding artificial preservatives, taste was homely simple. Pre-cooked minced marinated chicken was appetizing, laying on top and went nicely with plain tofu.Original recipe with attired cooking-style, golden piece of egg was served. Fried until excellence, little crisp outlay while fluffy firm inner layer. Good taste and nothing to complain about, it was superb nice to accompany even a bowl of plain rice. Well, price was not that cheap yet judge-able, food quality was up-to-standard. I don’t mind to come again to try the other cuisines, looking forward definitely.
