Fishball and fishcake noodles - S$4.30/setWhile the chilli sauce was solid, which gave a good oomph and a touch of savouriness, the noodles was a little on the dry side. It would help to drizzle some of the accompanying soup into the chilli-tossed noodles just to enhance its texture. I personally prefer my noodles to be cooked al dente but this seemed a little too 'limp' for my liking. What nailed it for us was the handmade fishcake and fishballs which were firm yet elastic, which gave an overall bouncy touch with added juiciness to it. You could have the fish cakes on its own at S$1 without the noodles and the calories were certainly well worth it! If you are a Teochew like us, try conversing with the lady boss, responsible for taking orders ,in the dialect and she would give you a slight discount if you order two sets or more! continue reading

This is the stall originated from the Whitley Road Flyover decades ago. I remember the stall used to be manned by a friendly Uncle. I did not see him there this time. It was manned by a middle aged Auntie with an elderly Auntie. I ordered the mee pok set at $4.30. The set consists of a bowl of mee pok with a bowl of fishball & fishcake soup and a piece of their signature fried fishcake. The texture of mee pok has got a noticeably springiness but the sauce mix was a little let down. I requested for extra chilli to be added but the level of spiciness was rather minimum with quite a strong taste of tomato sauce. The fishballs and fishcake soup tasted rather light. The texture of fishballs was rather bouncy with a desirable chewiness. Those slices of fishcake tasted equally good. The star of this set is that piece of fried fishcake. It still tasted fresh though not freshly fried. So, would i go back again? i would not mind going for their fried fishcake but may be not the noodle. continue reading

This stall is featured in a TV programme once. It was moved from the flyover at Whitley Road a deade ago. I ordered a basic bowl of mee pok dry that came with a bowl of fishball and fishcake soup. The mee pok was cooked nicely to achieve a springy texture. It tasted delicious when tossed it well with their special chilli. The flavorful soup came with 5 pieces of fishballs floating in it. The texture of these fishballs was bouncy and resilient. I would not mind to order just a bowl of fishballs soup when i am not too hungry. continue reading
