It’s only a few more days before we celebrate the Dumpling Festival. We’re guessing that you want to celebrate this occasion by eating your festive…well, dumplings. Luckily for you, the restaurants that we have on our list have created something for everyone to enjoy. They have traditional dumplings as well as new creations wherein they have added a new twist to the flavours we have grown accustomed to. Whatever you prefer, you can be sure that they have it. Peony Jade
For the Dumpling Festival, Peony Jade is proud to present its gourmet dumplings to celebrate the occasion. From 12 May to 6 June 2011, savour this award-winning restaurant’s specialties such as the Classic Cantonese Dumpling and the Nyonya Dumpling. Care for something new? Then, go ahead and try their new and innovative must-savours such as the Healthy Organic Wild Truffles Dumpling and Tutti-Frutti Flavour Dessert Dumplings featuring Honey Mango and Sago Pearls with Pomelo Sacs, Exotic Lychee, Refreshing Longan and D24 Durian. As for their special treats, they're also offering the Mini Buddha Jumps over The Wall, Treasures of the Sea Dumpling and many others. All these can be found in their Dragon Boar Five-course menu and is created by Chef Extraordinaire, Ryan Shiu. Ala carte items start from S$5.80++, dumpling gift hampers at S$32+ and set menu from S$68++ per person.

Chef Daniel’s Kitchen
It can’t get any better than dumplings with a twist! At Chef Daniel’s Kitchen, they remain true to their commitment of coming up with dishes where east cuisine meets west. As for their dumplings, Culinary Advisor Chef Daniel Koh has made sure that the typical rice dumplings have new flavours that will sure catch your attention. Thanks to Chef Koh’s penchant for updating traditional flavours, be prepared to savour the western flavour of smoked duck mixed with eastern ingredients of chestnut and mushrooms. To top it off, it is then wrapped in bamboo leaves and is served with foie gras. The rice dumplings are available for dine-in customers during lunch and dinner for only $18 nett. Limited to 30 dumplings per day.

Hua Ting
To celebrate the Dumpling Festival, Hua Ting restaurant has something special for us. From 16 May to 6 June 2011, you can get to try their famous dumplings or zhong zhis once again. But now, Master Chef Chan Kwok has created a new flavour for this double celebration. Enjoy the sumptuous surprise inside the bamboo leaves parcel starting from their all-time favourite Rice Dumpling with Roasted Meat in Hong Kong style. Savour every bite of this zhong zhi which is filled with freshly-roasted duck and meat, scallops, mushrooms, salted egg yolk, fragrant chestnuts and dried lotus seeds. Care to try something new? Then, make a beeline for their new creation, the Dumpling with Pork, ‘Huang Mi’ and Wild Mushrooms. Due to the Chinese belief of pairs being lucky, this new offering is made of two types of grains (Huang Mi and Glutinous Rice and ingredients (Succulent Pork and Mushrooms). These are then stuffed in the centre of the sticky rice, which makes the dumpling so full and tasty. Vegans also can enjoy dumplings at Hua Ting with their Rice Dumpling Stuffed with Red Bean Paste.

Paradise Pavilion
Treat yourself to an exquisite dim sum experience at Paradise Pavilion and get to enjoy their traditional favourites as well as their latest creations. Have some of their Black Truffle Chicken, Dragon Beard Flaky Rolls with Eggplant; and to celebrate the Dumpling Festival, their special Crystal Dumplings with Peking Duck. Other choices on their menu are their authentic Hong Kong-Style Baked Snow Bun with BBQ Pork, Original Steamed Carrot Cake, and Steamed Custard Buns. Dim sums are not the only ones that you can feast on at Paradise Pavilion. They also have their Chinese dishes and creative signature dishes. One of their house specialties is the roasted Peking Duck. Old Hong Kong Legend is one of the go-to dining places this Dumpling Festival. From now till 16 June 2011, they are presenting their five specialty dumplings you can get to enjoy. For starters, you can try their Classic Cantonese Dumpling ($12.8). It’s stuffed with chestnuts, roast duck, roast pork, dried scallops, dried shrimps, slated egg, mushroom, green beans, and lotus seeds. Or, you can always have a taste of their Lotus Paste Dumpling ($4.8) with lotus paste as its filling.
