Under the Sea

WIN some Resorts World Sentosa vouchers! Read on to find out how.
Under the sea Under the sea Darling it’s better Down where it’s wetter Take it from me.
With Ocean Restaurant, Singapore’s finally got our very own table-side dining seats to the dazzling depths of the ocean. The restaurant is housed within S.E.A. Aquarium at Resort World Sentosa. Currently the world’s largest aquarium, it houses a myriad of 800 species of marine animals, including giant manta rays, sharks and other fishes – many of which would pay you a visit sometime or another during your meal.
And the food! Fronted by the first and only female American Iron Chef, Cat Cora, Ocean Restaurant offers epicurean seafood dining, while supporting the preservation of the marine ecosystem by only serving sustainable seafood. The dishes are light, simple and healthy, earmarked by Chef Cora’s Greek and Southern heritage. What we had
Soup in a Cup – Burnt Onion Soup
Dainty and classy serving of onion soup with cheese and a dash of black truffle.
Butternut Pumpkin & Hokkaido Scallop - $30
Beautifully cooked Hokkaido Scallop seated within a butternut pumpkin soup. The texture of the scallop was just right with a gorgeous sear on the outside. The soup was warm and creamy, an absolute delight.

Braised Beef Short-Ribs & M6 Wagyu Striploin - $68
Beef short-ribs were braised tender and juicy. On the other hand, the Wagyu did not really shine. There wasn’t much fat or marbling and so none of the melt-in-your-mouth goodness I was expecting.

Dark Chocolate Brownie Pistachio Puree & Ice Cream - $25
Short summary: A flavour explosion with every bite. Served with a scoop of ice cream, the dark chocolate brownie could go with either of 2 intense flavours on the plate - salt caramel or chocolate espuma, both decadent and rich on the palate.
If you are seeking spectacular dining experiences, Ocean Restaurant by Cat Cora is the place to go. The restaurant has got style and ambience by the tank-full. While the food (and to some extent, the bill) may not be for everyone, it is still something to check off the bucket list and a wondrous spectacle unto itself.
