The cosy interior of Antoinette
It is not hard to notice the newly-opened Antoinette at Mandarin Gallery. Fronted by delectable desserts specially crafted by founder and owner Chef Pang Kok Keong, you would easily wonder what else is in store for you at this patisserie named after the last queen of France. Its namesake, Marie Antoinette, was known for her fine taste in food and pastries. And with this patisserie, you can expect nothing but the best French-inspired food too. You can start by making yourself comfortable in their posh and cosy chairs as you take in the whole luxurious ambience decked in shades of muted gold and beige. If you’re ready for your dining experience, begin by ordering any of their popular tea flavours such as the Forest Berries, Fleurs Confiture d’ Oranges, or the Earl Grey d’Antoinette. It will definitely make you feel all warm inside as you prepare for their mains. Though it’s mainly a patisserie, Antoinette’s menu also features all-day casual dining with an extensive list of dishes to choose from. You can always start with something fresh and light such as the Salade Antoinette ($14.50). Follow it up with their rich and velvety Scrambled Egg Gratin with tomato fondue, Paris ham, sautéed mushrooms, and parmesan cheese with pain de mie toast ($15).

For something more special, opt for the 24-hour Baguette served with Serrano ham, emmental cheese, and French butter ($14). Even without the side servings, the baguette is a stand out in itself due to the long process it takes Chef Pang to craft them. “I’ve always been fascinated with them,” says Chef, which explains why all his bread creations are definite must-tries. Other notable mentions on their menu are the Burger Antoinette ($18), Gnocchi Carbonara ($16.50), Bouef Bourguignon ($28), and the Ballotine de poulet a la Grand-Mere (S26).
The Saint Honore L’Amour and Antoinette
As Marie Antoinette adored delectable desserts, this patisserie has made sure that their desserts are up to par with her tastes. Hence; their pastries are just presented in a way that would just make you drool. One of their original concoctions named after the queen herself is the Antoinette ($9), which is made of earl grey ice cream with raspberry jelly and milk chocolate shards. The way you eat this is definitely interesting for the jelly is enclosed in a casing which you have to break and spread on top. For additional kick, Antoinette recommends that you pair it up with the Fleurs Confiture d’ Oranges tea. Other desserts which are worth trying are the Chocolicieux ($9.50) and the Saint Honore L’Amour ($8.50). More restaurants to try out in Somerset Other dining options for french Cuisine
