Austrian Terroir
At present, this country has over 35 varieties which are good enough for quality wine production. But what makes their grapes top grade? In wine production, there’s such a thing as terroir. This comes from the French word, terre, which means land. Terroir refers to the key factors (climate, geography, soil condition, etc) which have a great impact on produce such as grapes. Austria has a cool weather, and so, the grapes take awhile to ripen. When they do, they have a sweeter taste which just plays on the palate. Hence; Austria is also known for producing the best fruit wines.
When you do get a taste of Austrian wines at the Austrian Wine Festival, you will clearly taste their distinct aromatic freshness you will surely appreciate.
