Char Grill Bar is commonly perceived as the less “atas” version of Aston Specialities. Some of the differences includes CGB has more items on menu, Astons uses the pager beeper to alert orders that are ready but CGB serves them to you and Astons seems to have nicer side dishes. I ordered a prime black pepper steak with season vegetables and garden salad as sides. It was a nice to know they still serve steaks in such cow shaped hot plates. Though without garnish on top, the steak is placed on top of onions slices at the bottom, perhaps that’s the trick to prevent your steak from being overcooked, nice touch. Actually the onion really goes well with the steak, I ended up eating each cut slice with a bit of onion and I finished them all. The steak was really well prepared I must say, exactly per my request of medium well. On the other hand, the sides were not so encouraging. The garden salad which is just lettuce is a cold side and garden vege is a hot side dish, and I think they put a little mash potato gravy on top as well but quantity served was way too little . Overall bill was $10.80. continue reading

There’s quite a variety of choices to choose from ;DTook a while before I decided on the Pesto Grilled Chicken. Two sides chosen are the French fries and potato salad. It costs a total of $6.90 for this Pesto Grilled Chicken and each item comes with two sides. We waited for around 5mins before they served our orders to our tables. The portion of the chicken seems to have shrunk as compared to the last few times I had it.The pesto chicken does not have a strong taste of pesto flavour, but the grilled taste is nice and fragrant ;DThe meat is well marinated and the taste within is quite rich. And the meat is tender and soft ^^Really love the chicken meat as it makes cutting easier and it’s easy to consume The French fries is quite crispy and fragrant, but I didn’t really like it as the potato inside is a little bland. As for the potato salad, it is not too hard and not too soft and the amount of mayonnaise is just right, which gives it a rich and nice taste, love it a lot ! ;DA good choice for affordable and nice western food. Although it isn’t really great but it is pretty nice and worth it for the price ;D continue reading

they shifted the stall to a bigger one, replacing formerly the duck noodle stall i think. Ordered prime striploin steak with mexican cheese pasta and garden salad as side dishes. love the cheese pasta but i couldn't say the same for the garden salad as its just pure iceburg type of lettuce with lots of mayonnaise spread on top. The steak's presentation may not be the best, still using the old school cow chape hot plate with no other garnish except for the onions which the steak rest on top of, nice touch actually so that the steak will not be overcooked so soon. Served typically in dramatic fashion with lots of steam and sizzling sound, the $10.80 set meal fully delivered what it promised. I will always return to visit whenever i want to eat a steak for less than $15. Kind of prefer them over Aston express actually. maybe i will try out their chicken next. continue reading

To me, I think Char –Grill is better than Botak Jones, although Botak Jones has a larger serving which makes me rather bloated at times. I have ordered the BBQ Grilled Chicken with two slide dishes and I choose French fries and their cheese pasta. I love the cheese pasta which is very chilly and the cheese is marvelous. The chicken is very tender and the portion is just nice for me. With the savory BBQ sauce dripped across the chicken, it makes the whole dish superb and it is sold at a reasonable price. continue reading

Yet another rapidly expanding Western food chain that infiltrates coffee shops in Singapore, Char-Grill Bar certainly gives Astons and Botak Jones a run for their money.I ordered the recommended char-grilled chicken which costs only $5.90 inclusive of 2 free side dishes. I decided to have California raisin rice and baked potato with my chicken. The service was fast for a weekend lunch and I received my order within 15 minutes. continue reading
