I very rarely eat spring rolls because I find them very greasy and also cold as it is fried and left out for quite a long while. However, since my friend wanted one, I got one for myself as well. The spring roll is indeed at room temperature, so I heated it up back at home. Once it is heated up, it tasted really good. The spring roll exterior is very crispy and the fillings inside are flavourful and not too greasy. The fillings still have some crunch in them as well, which made it have more bite. Although I haven’t eaten too many spring rolls before, but this is one of the nicer ones of those I have tried before. continue reading

FoodOld Chang Kee is famous for it quick finger snacks and I had ordered its famous Curry Puff yesterday. Its curry puff had a very good impression in my head throughout the years. The edge of the curry puff is hard. The fillings of the puff are not as chunky as last time, I somehow got disappointed, crust/skin was thick not to my liking even though the fillings are hot.ServiceService is on the average side.AmbienceAir conditioned surroundings and their kiosk is situated in the basement floor of Clementi mall. They operated early in the morning to cater to the working and studying crowds who needs a quick bite on the go.PriceWith its pricing, we can find better curry puff else where.Recommendation / TipsThe curry puff maybe spicy and fillings are hot. So becareful. continue reading

I like it that Old Chang Kee has a variety of curry puff. They have different fillings inside their curry puff such as the usual curry chicken, the sardine filling and my favourite, the chicken mushroom puff. I found this outlet’s chicken mushroom puff exceptionally nice, I don’t know if I was hungry or it just taste really good. the puff was very fragrant, had this strong buttery fragrance. the mushroom inside was very juicy and it was cooked with chicken cubes, potato and carrot. The potato and carrot were cooked till very soft. The filling was not too salty unlike some chicken pie which have the same filling. continue reading

This laksa was old chang kee's signature dish and it cost around $4 if I didnt remember wrongly. The portion was okay and it was spicy at all. The noodles was alright but i wish that they could give more. Now for the bad part, their laksa was too oily and didnt have any coconut taste, also, my laksa was cold even though i started eating straight after I paid. The prawns given were the fake ones which were crunchy and tasted weird, the only normal ingredients were the beansprouts and tau pok. I wouldnt eat their laksa ever again. continue reading

Wonder if anyone still remember the original Old Chang Kee near the Rex theater. That was almost thirty years ago. I really like that Curry puff. Everytime I eat an Old Chang Kee curry puff, it reminds me of that. Unfortunately, the present factory made curry puff has lost a little of the old flavour. I find the pastry a little too thick, especially the side. I always gave the side pastry to my kids. But, the fillings still hold the original taste, especially when I chewed on the chicken chunk. The curry puff tastes best when it's hot and this time I was lucky to bought it at the right time, when it just came out of the fryer. Really good. continue reading
