The cafe is located in the middle of a row of shophouses and is just across the street from the MRT station. Although we arrive about 23 minutes before the opening timing, we are not the first in queue for the cafe to open. The queue stretches quite long by the time the cafe opens for business. The cafe is packed the moment it opens. 4The cafe is quite small in size and tables are placed quite near to each other. Beautiful arts decorated the walls. Orders are taken at the tables. Only cash and NETS are accepted here. There is no GST and service charge here.

The sliced banana on top of the tart is soft and topped with a hard caramlized crust. It does not too taste too sweet and has a nice texture. The filling inside is thick and creamy. It has a flowery taste with a strong hint of Earl Grey taste. I am quite disappointed with its hard and dry tart crust. It is difficult to cut through with the metal spoon.

Overall the food is delicious and served quite fast from the limited menu. As the place is quite packed with families on Sunday, the place is quite noisy with children crying in the background. Although there is always queue at the door, I feel that the turnover is quite fast.

I was invited to Ricciotti Riverside for their 10th Anniversary Media Party on 16 October 2014. Ricciotti was formerly known as Ricciotti Pizza Pasta Grill. In conjunction with its tenth anniversary, it officially underwent significant changes to provide its customers with a new dining experience. It also combines all things Italia, combining food with the Arts, Music and Culture.The tasting menu looked really impressive and I was looking forward to the party!Contemporary design of the restaurant, with many of the items imported from Italy. First, we had a sharing plate of a few types of appetizers. Carpaccio Di Polpo (Sliced Octopus, Lemon, Fennel) which was refreshing and made a good appetizer before we had the mains. I liked their Asparagi Alla Griglia, which is grilled asparagus and parma ham. We also snacked on the Polenta Herb Fries, which was served with truffle mushroom sauce dip. It was quite an unique combination. Another refreshing dish on the plate was Nizzarda Salad that was a blend of mesclun, fresh tuna loin, quail eggs, green beans, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, anchovies topped with sherry dressing. Lastly, we also had Panzerotti, pizza doughs (shaped like our curry puffs) that were stuffed with chef's creation.Opening speech from the management.

It was fresh and tender, served with sundried tomatoes and sauteed spinach. The Chicken Skewer was presented on chickpea dip. The chicken meat, which was marinated with herbs, had a nice flavour.We had a Porcini E Scamorza Pizza. Toppings included Porcini mushrooms and cow's milk cheese. This pizza was not too heavy on the stomach but I do wish there were more mushrooms on it. Finale for the tasting session! The Dessert Platter! Soffiatto (Dark Chocolate molten cake with Stracciatella gelato), Canella Sweet Pizza, Tiramisu and Carrot Cake.

I have not really visited many cafes in Singapore as many of them are located quite far from where I am staying and are not very accessible. I am glad that recently, there are a few cafes making their way into the heartland of Singapore and being an Easterner, I will like to explore some of the cafes in Bedok and Changi area first. As it was the start of the holiday for me yesterday ie no need to report to work, I decided to make a trip to Bedok Reservoir on my own to have my brunch at Refuel Cafe. Refuel Cafe is located at this block. Located below the void deck. The cafe was not really very big and the seats were almost all filled up by lunch-time. I saw a few parents bringing their children who were dressed in school uniform (probably they just took their PSLE results) to have their meal here. All prices shown on the menu are the Nett prices. The cafe doesn't charge GST and Service Charge. I ordered a small cup of Latte ($4.50). Interesting design of the magazine rack. As the cafe has the theme of petrol station, you can find "props" like the barrels below, signages related to petrol kiosks here.The cafe served All-Day breakfast and I ordered their recommended "Full Tank" aka "Big Breakfast" which had bratwurst, bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms, toast, tomatoes, potatoes & salad all served on one plate. ($13.90) Of course, I loved the mushrooms best and followed by the lightly toasted bread which was soft. The scrambled eggs was too creamy for my like as I prefer it to have a bit more texture.After my meal, I spent some time walking around the neighbourhood. Near to the cafe, there is this birds shop that caught my eyes. Do check it out if you are around the area.

I had a gathering with my secondary school buddies last Sunday. Due to our hectic schedule, we only got together to meet up twice this year, excluding our secondary school 20th year mass reunion. We could only lament that time really flies, another year had passed by so fast. As all of us stay in the East, with 3 of them staying in Bedok, we decided to meet up at To-gather Cafe, which is strategically located at Bedok heartland. I called in to make reservation for 5 of us as I had seen queues outside the cafe on two occasions when I was around the area with my hubby. You could request for post-it from them to do some doodle or write some motivational quotes and stick them to a designated part of the wall.One of my friends decided to bring her two kids along and fortuately, there was a small play corner (just behind our table) for them while the five of us had our food and conversations over the small cozy table at one end of the cafe.Like many other cafes, we had to go over to the counter to order and pay for our food first. No service charge and GST here. My friends ordered a plate of Mexican Quesadilla ($6.50) to share - Tortilla with grilled chicken slices, sautee mixed bell peppers, mozzarella cheese and fresh tomato salsa. Roasted Hazelnut Latte ($4.40) I was the only one ordering a main as the rest of them had lunch already. I ordered Grilled Pandan Chicken Chop, served with light coconut sauce, pineapple salsa, fries and salad. ($8.90) The chicken chop was tender and for this price tag, I got nothing to complain. I had been warned by my cousin and friends that their Matcha Lava Cake was very sweet. However, I wanted to try for myself as I thought this was one of their signatures, after looking at so many of their matcha lava cakes on instagram. True enough, the matcha was really far too sweet. My friend and I couldn't finish it off! Overall, I find the cafe a nice cozy place to chill with friends. We spent two and a half hours at the cafe catching up and spending quality time with one another. Looking forward to our next meet-up. Another cafe? Probably.

We had a birthday celebration with our evil sista at this medieval themed restaurant. This place is located at level 3 of Vivocity (opposite Daiso). It has both indoor and outdoor entrance, the outdoor facade is much grander with two armored knights guarding the 'castle' doors.The diner was dressed in Halloween theme during the month of October. The interior of the restaurant is furnished with custom made tables, chairs and benches, and more armored knights with swords and shields. The starters were good, I especially liked the Banana bacon bites and the Prawn twisters. The Mussels and Scallops in Platter D were also super fresh. I didn't touch the Caesar salad though as it was covered with loads of cheese.

For main course, I had the Pan Fried fillet of Snapper $23.90++. The chunky snapper fillet was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, very tasty! The roasted potatoes were a nice change from the fried version on the other dishes.Other main courses ordered were Beer Battered Fish & Chips $21.90++, Roast beef & BBQ ribs $35.90++, Dragon tail Aglio Olio $19.90++ and Seafood Marinara $25.90++.All the main courses were huge, even the caesar salad was served in a gigantic bowl. Some of us didn't managed to wolf down everything on the plates. Food was generally yummy, ingredients were fresh and well prepared. I find the menu a little too meaty with very few selection of non meat dishes. Service was good as the diner was quite empty during lunch hours. Overall, it was a nice dining experience.

Located at Lim Tua Tow Road, this area can be consider one of the foodie cluster, especially those shop houses facing Upper Serangoon Road. Luckily Sunday Market is located in the next block, where it is easier to get car park and there is valet available during certain nights. Since our first visit, Little Devil and I went back there three times in the past two months and we just can't get enough of the place and it is so near our place.First impression, from the outside, it is quite funky. The signboard is a combination of red and white is more like a Chinese restaurant instead of cafe. Once you are in, the décor is unique, minimalistic but making you feel like you are dining outdoor. The crowd just make it feels lively. Not sure why, but it seems to be in trend that lots of cafe like to hang oldies stuff such as bicycle, chair, TV, etc. from their ceiling.So what are the must try items here:
Crispy Duck Leg Confit ($17.90). Move over French Bistro, most newbies cafe in Singapore has mastered this dish. The same can be said here, nicely executed. The skin is crispy, the meat is tender, flavourful and not too salty. While duck confit supposed to be soak in duck fat during the marinating process, you don't feel the oiliness here. The potato is crisp, goes well with the brown sauce and salad.Pulled Duck Sandwich ($13.90). Another well executed duck dish here, the use brioche bread packs more flavour to the dish. It was pan fried at first, so it is crispy, and you can feel the crunchiness of the duck in the sandwich as well. The creamy slaw and brown sauce bind the whole sandwich together. Good for light bite.French Toast with BBQ Chicken ($12.90). This is a modern fusion dish with Thai twist. The grilled chicken is sweet, tender and succulent. Using the same brioche bread for French toast is the right choice. The fried egg is good and the sriracha sauce give a unique twist to the dish.Bangkok Toast ($10.90). One of the best desserts here with awesome presentations. The brioche is flavoured with cinnamon (very light) and icing sugar. Green tea custard and Thai Milk tea ice cream are have a subtle hint of sweetness and very good to accompany the toast. Once the ice cream melts, it become a creamy milk shake.Waffle with Ice Cream ($9.50 – double scoop). The waffle is thick and crispy. We tried Belgium Chocolate and Thai Milk Tea ice cream. Both are creamy and delicious, best of all it is not overly sweet. Yum YumFor drinks, the caffeine is very average. Don't expect those artisan coffee, as it is not their focus here. (Hint to management, Can we get better coffee??). I personally like their Lemmy Lemonade ($5.90). This lemonade is just refreshingly tangy. Imported from New Zealand, this drink is organic (not that I really care) and it just tasted awesome. Thai Milk tea is also a favourite but it can be a bit sweet if you don’t have a sweet tooth.Service is fast and friendly. After they took your order, they will provide you with the cutlery and the anticipation of getting your grub soon. From the way it looks, the utensils and cutleries are from Thailand.Overall, Sunday Market is going to be our cafe of choice in 2014. The food is excellent and value for money. Spruce at Bukit Timah has taken over the old Fire Station, converting the space into a 3000 sqft dining area which is able to accommodate up to 150 people in indoors. The old building has been built way back in 1956 and each time as I pass by, my attention will all be drawn on those big giant red doors which were retained.

Concept of Spruce was laid-back, serving unpretentious modern American Cuisine.Beside serving signature dishes and the occasional wine dinners, they also feature a bakery with freshly baked pastries and breads which was made in-house daily.Location is perfect with just a stone throw away from Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. However due to its location, it might be a tad inaccessible if you are taking public transport. For those who are driving, do make sure that if you do not miss the turn into the carpark or you have to make a long way through before making a U-Turn.To keep the atmosphere lively, there are live bands available at some of the nights adding joys to chill outs sessions for the diners.Chef Signature, surprisingly comes with tender braised beef cheek stacked under a bed of Polenta accompanied by french beans and carrots.One of its chef recommended mains to be ordered, Spruce Burger. Buns was slightly toasted and with some crisp at the circumferences topped iwth both white and black sesame, interesting!Beef patty was juicy and comes with homemade pickles, cheddar cheese with herbed flavoured thick cut fries by the side. Ambience is good for relaxing and unwind ourselves after a day of work, not to mention that the hospitality of the servers were great too. A few rounds in Golden Mile Food Centre had make me realized that there are a number of stalls selling Hainanese Cuisine - well, they are not just the common Hainanese Chicken Rice Stall we have seen but more of the rare ones.

I came across Kheng Fatt Hainanese Beef Noodles as I walked up the flight of stairs (main) and they were just located right beside at the 1st Level.Opted a dry version bowl of tasty and hearty Hainanese beef noodle to start with. Its flavoursome starchy gravy slathered with thick bee hoon is all heavenly and lip smackingly good. Beef slices were well cooked, maintaining its tenderness.Try dipping the slices into their homemade chilli sauce added with the tangy taste from the squeeze of the lime. Perfect!The grated peanuts had given an extra texture to the palates and some preserved vegetables had added a twist to its sweet tasty sauce.Perhaps this is the best drier version of beef noodle I had in Singapore.

The place is located in ula ula far east of Singapore. Although there is valet parking at the restaurant, there is also public parking area at the back of the restaurant. The place is quite huge with both indoor and outdoor dining area and can seat about 300 people. In the outdoor area, there is swings and items that look like leftover from an amusement park. Inside the place, there is various sitting areas with different furniture. There is also various vespas that decorated the walls.As we have come at an odd timing of 5pm, where the kitchen is closed until 5.50pm for dinner, only appetizers, pizzas, desserts and drinks are available.Latte ($6++)

I have a thing about the staff serving the dessert items with other food items together in one go. The ice cream in the dessert items are melting and we feel that we kind of rushing to finish them. Beware of insect bites too, as some of us receive some although we are sitting indoor in the air-con area. Remember to take a pack of old school biscuits by the door on the way out. Kind of reminding one of the younger days.

At the first bite off the hardened chocolate coating reveals the classic and pure milky white creamy Magnum. It melts a lot faster than expected. I like my choices of toppings except the gold nuggets as they were too hard and sweet on my teeth.The video shows the part towards the end of the customization where the Magnum guy drizzle the white chocolate on my customized Ice Cream.

To sum up, I would say it is a good experience to have enjoyed Magnum in a unique way and tailed made based on our preference. Since this is a Pop up store by magnum in celebration of their 25th Anniversary and they will be here till a fix date. Do catch them before its gone!

Ramen Champion serves a favourite spot for all Japanese Ramen lovers to enjoy high quality and delighting ramen from cities in Japan. Just recently in July, there were 2 more new Ramen restaurants from Japan arrived at Ramen Champion to participate in the next Ultimate ramen champion 2014 Singapore. Rating: 3.5 / 5 The stark difference among the other two mentioned was the use of Miso. 3 kinds of Miso (red, white and black) are used, maintaining the authentic and traditional flavor in a bowl of Sapporo Ramen not to mentioned about its long hours of broth boiling time too. Where such special ramen is cooked to its perfection, it is no doubt that it's the MUST TRY at Menya Ryu.Besides having bowls of ramen, Customers get to enjoy a wide spread of Japanese side dishes from the menu.

With squirts of lemon juice over these bite size tempura Gindara Croquette and dipping mayonnaise sauce, its easily for us to pop them non stop into our mouth. Luckily, the number of croquette are fixed on each plate.Enjoy a bowl of yummy lobster salad drench with roasted sesame sauce. Out of all ramen tried, we can feel the passion and hard work the chef had put in in order to reach such high standards. Bowls of ramen were indeed appetizing and competitive with each stall revealing the best in them. Not to mention that the timing and seizing of the right temperature whilst cooking of the ramen are critical,especially when it's noodles are of good elasticity and texture.

Carnivore is one of the leading Brazilian Churrasco restaurants in Singapore just opened its latest outlet in Grandstand. Like the rest of its outlet, Carnivore is a buffet restaurant, so for meat lovers, this is a place you must try. We were there for lunch during Deepavali and apparently it was only open for seven days according to the service staff.If you never been to Carnivore before, it has a very interesting concept. After you are seated, order your drinks and proceed to the buffet counter for your side dishes and sauces. Once you are back to your seat, put the sign for SIM, Por Favour (Yes, Please). The knife wielding Passadors (meat waiters) will come to you individually and sever you with the rotisserie-roasted selection of meat. This will goes on and on until you turn the sign to NÃO, Obrigado (No, Thanks).Check out the following on what on offers for on the sauces, salads and side dishes. My suggestions are to stick with something light. Our favourites were the Tomato and Mozarella Cheese, Mash Potatoes and Mushrooms Salad. For sauces, make sure you try Chimichurri, Homemade BBQ Sauce and Capsicum Vinaigrette. Those tangy and acidic sauce will be good to break down the fats in the meat and allow you to eat more.We started on our Carnivore Gastronomic journey with Pork Sausage. It is thick, slightly salty and a bit dry. It will be good if the sausage has more fat in it. Lamb Shoulder, although the board says leg of lamb, I was told by the Passador it was lamb shoulder. It is juicy with slight pinkish in the middle. Expect the lamb to be a springy texture but delicious. Ham, similar taste to our day to day ham, except it is a bit drier due to the roasting.Chicken thigh was well seasoned, tender and succulent. In comparison the Chicken breast with bacon was on the drier side. If you get the Beef Rump on the first cut, it's the best. Nicely done with a good charred and well balance of fats and meat. The best cut of the day in my opinion.Pork belly was all right, with minimum fats but I find it missing the juiciness. Instead tasting like being grilled, it has a texture more like a smoked pork belly. The Beef tenderloin was also good, but it was not as tender and juicy compare to the rump. The fish thick and flavourful. They will need to use those big fishes so the meat does not break down easily.At the end the first cycle of meat, the Passador served the grilled pineapple. It is juicy with a nice caramelisation on the outer part. Good to cut through the jelakness and overwhelming sensation from too much meat. We actually have additional 2 servings of beef, lamb and pineapple before we turn the sign to NÃO, Obrigado (No, Thanks).For desserts, there is an ice kacang station. Yes, this might not be Brazilian, but I never hear anyone complain about ice kacang right Service was excellent, the service staff was very attentive and informative. He actually recommend the Brazilian Guarana. Tasted like red bull with more gas and less sugar. They also clear our plate regularly.The décor is very simple, nice and clean. There are lots of natural light, as they use glasses as wall for the section wall facing the outdoor.Overall, it has been ages since we had our last Brazilian Churrasco. If you have are a meat lover, you must give this place a try. The food here is good, and we find the buffet lunch is really value for money and enough time to digest those proteins. We actually had simple and light dinner that day, as we were stuffed from the lunch. Cheers!!

Lola's Cafe need little introduction... This small cafe in the midst of Kovan is among the most ridiculously popular cafes in Singapore, with queues of up to 45 minutes just to get a seat. There are even queues during off peak hours! And why not? Young entrepreneurs June Tan and Foo Choo Kiat, who scratch make pastries in Lola's Cafe, have created a cozy, relaxing space for gatherings, with delicious, carefully prepared dishes, and wallet friendly prices.

Ambience at Lola's Cafe is relaxing and welcoming. The small layout is fully maximised, and tables are packed closely together, lending a bustling air. The quirky industrial wooden decor stands out with humourous touches, while the large display of desserts steals the eye. Lola's Cafe is cozy, but I find the interior lighting to be very dim. I also find the hipster wooden tables to be rather impractical for dining.Service at Lola's Cafe is efficient. The predominately young staff are upbeat and cheerful, going about their tasks quickly. I noticed they're quite attentive, quick to respond to requests, and also fast at clearing away dirty / empty tables. The kitchen fulfills orders quickly even during peak periods, you'll seldom have to wait more than 10 minutes once seated. The main difficulty lies in actually getting a seat, queues can take anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes, and there is no waiting area, so customers have to stand outside in the heat.Food at Lola's Cafe is a mix of modern Western, with influences from America, England, France, and Italy. The menu is rather small, but they do each dish to perfection, taking great care in crafting the combination of tastes and texture, and presenting it beautifully. They offer an all day brunch menu from 10am - 3pm, while the dinner menu is from 6pm - 11pm. The desserts here are fantastic as well, made in house daily! Portions sizes are big for 1 person, but the main draw of Lola's Cafe is their affordable prices. All prices quoted are nett, without any tax / GST, and most main dishes cost SGD $16 or less.

The Organic Chai Tea Latte (SGD $5) stood out for me. Rather uncommon in Singapore, this brought back memories of travel abroad. Fragrant and aromatic, the beautiful whiff of cinnamon hits you when it's served. Texture is so smooth, with a hint of the spice. Very good!The Avocado Eggs Benedict (SGD $15) is often considered to be amongst the better renditions in Singapore, partially because it's also one of the cheapest in Singapore. Great value for money, you get a thick slice of brioche toast, topped with savoury ham, fresh creamy avocado, and 2 perfectly poached eggs with runny yolks, finished with hollandaise sauce. Accompanied by a fresh garden salad with balsamic dressing, the eggs benedict is so sexy, oozing the yolk when cut, only to be soaked up by the soft, fluffy brioche toast. Highly recommended!Loved the Sea Salt Chocolate Tart With Coffee Cream (SGD $5)! A rich, dense, thick dark chocolate ganache, with a dash of sea salt, sits in a crumbly pastry tart crust. Topped with a smooth coffee espresso cream enhanced with bailey's, this dessert hits all the taste notes of sweet, savoury, bitter, smooth, crunchy, sticky, and chewy. Complex, I like!

Robertson Quay area has an extensive choice for brunch session and restaurants to choose from. Anthesis Cafe is one of the addition in the area. It is few shops away from well-knowned cafe,Toby's Estate.Finally paid them a visit on Wednesday night to try on their brunch. However, brunch menu is not available by the time we arrived. Nevertheless, we get the chance to try their dinner menu.Trio Mushroom Spaghetti S$20.00 which serves in an appealing presentation. Trio mushroom combination is ideal for those who are taking vegetarian. It is quite filling with the portion served.Chef did a great job on the food plating for Halibut S$28.00. We were amazed with the presentation when the dish was served. Smooth and soft fish texture with the in-house sauce left us with deep impression.We didn't order drinks as there is free flow plain water. Interesting part here is that the water served with laser-branded tin mugs.No additional charge for the water.Total bill S$48.00 which include 7% GST. I would love to be back to try their brunch
