FAVOURITE HONG KONG FOOD OpenRice also spoke to a few food bloggers to find out what are some of their favourite Hong Kong dishes that leave them yearning to travel to Hong Kong. Here’s what some of our bloggers have to say:
Edsmond (The Chosen Glutton) Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bun 流沙包 It’s so good because these buns look so unassuming on the outside but when you peel it, you can actually see the lava flowing and taste every bit of the salted egg yolk.
Catherine Ling (Camemberu) Beef Brisket Noodles 牛腩麵 The mixture of beef broth, beef ribs and brisket that has been stewed for hours to extract all the goodness somehow just comes together in a wonderful savoury broth.
Chong (MakeYourCaloriesCount) Bamboo Noodles, Jook-Sing 竹昇麵 These noodles are usually handmade using duck eggs. Compared with the usual factory produced noodles, these handmade ones have a much better texture and taste; and is best enjoyed with wontons (dumplings).
Celine Chiam (ChiamHuiy) Porridge 粥 The porridge I ate at a family eatery in Hong Kong had sesame oil, spring onions and ginger slices. It’s these small little ingredients makes a lot of difference and I really miss this dish a lot.
