What’s on the brunch menu?
Grilled Breakfast with any style eggs
A great classic would be the Grilled Breakfast with any style eggs ($23++). This platter offers Italian pork sausage, sweetened bacon, Portobello mushrooms, vine tomato, toasted sourdough and of course, eggs in any style you fancy – be it fried, poached, omelette or scrambled. Our pick would definitely be poached, simply because that’s inarguably the best way to enjoy eggs!
White Bean Iberico Chorizo Leek Stew
If you want something a little heavier, consider the hearty White Bean Iberico Chorizo Leek Stew ($16++). This thick, savoury and not to mention addictive soupy creation consists of smoked chipotle sauce (the key ingredient), tomato, fine herbs and topped with a sunny side up egg. You can choose to have this on your own or to share, although we admit sometimes good things just aren’t meant to be shared – if you get where we’re coming from.
Pancake with Bacon Butter, Fresh Strawberries and Puree
And what’s brunch without pancakes? At just $12++, The Halia’s version of these fluffy circles is to die for and we highly recommended it. The bacon butter adds a unique touch to the dish, and you can forget about maple syrup – the strawberry puree goes extremely well with the very excellent crisp-edge pancakes.
If that’s not enough, other items on the menu include Assorted Bread & Pastries with a variety of accompanying spreads ($12++), Heirloom Tomato with goat’s cheese, balsamic, mache and sea salt ($18++), Clonakilty Black Pudding ($18++) and Pork Ribs with chilli glaze ($25++).
Note: The Halia’s brunch specials are only available weekends and public holidays between 11am and 5:30pm. All brunch specials are rotated on a seasonal basis, with the exception of the Grilled Breakfast, which is a permanent item on the menu.
