開飯介紹
Premises formerly occupied under the name of Daikokuya, Menya Koji continues to specialise in ramen dishes in a contemporary and relaxing atmosphere. Alongside ramen, Menya Koji features a variety of tempting dishes such as gyoza (pan-fried dumplings), appetizers and Japanese curry rice. It is a great place to enjoy ramen with some side dishes and a few drinks of sake or shochu. 繼續閱讀

For more food review, visit www.umakemehungry.comDaikokuya is located at the basement of Paragon Shopping Centre serving Japanese Cuisine. While most of the restaurants are hogged with waiting queues outside their doors, we choose to dine in Daikokuya as they are the most convenience to us - no queues at all. It's a children friendly environment and dining area is rather open concept. Those that are walking along the corridoors may just pop their eyes into the restaurants. Environment Theme color of the restaurant resides in dark brown color with a cemented floor space. Interior Design gives diner a modern Japanese feel, making the place cozy under the bright warm lights. The menu cover was special and texture was different.Every dining table comes readily with a set of condiments like, chilli powder, shoyu, Vinegar, Chilli Oil and pepper.Dashi Tamago was served in 6 cubes, yellow in color with radish tucked by the side of the plate. It was a tad on the sweet side and since the cubes were made up by layers of eggs, it was very fragile and tends to collapse easily when we had them. Out of the 3 flavours of chawanmushi available, the only available was the one with unagi. Initially, we wanted to ordered chicken (tori). Chawanmushi was not as wobbly and was filled with a few piece of unagi at the bottom of the porcelain. Kyushu Tonkotsu Style Ramen consists of rich flavourful cloudy broth whereby pork bones were being boiled for over 12 hours. Noodles was thin and straight, like the size of our local "mee kia". Ramen was accompanied with toppings like bamoboo shoots, chopped scallions, kikurage (wood ear mushroom), naruto (fishcake), sliced cha shu (pork belly).I had the Tokyo Style ramen in soy sauce flavoured soup and sliced roast pork. The noodles was springy and curly, accompanied with chopped scallions, bamboo shoots, naruto (fishcake), sliced pork and baby spinach.Based on the Cha Shu from the two bowls of Ramen ordered, the meat has nothing outstanding and rather ordinary but still the tender soft and chewable bites The service was pleasant and left a good impression to me. Our cups of plain water were topped up from time to time and the service staff will pop by once a while to get feedback. 繼續閱讀

For more details, please visit www.foodesteem.blogspot.sg/2014/03/menya-koji.htmlAssari Mini Spicy Miso Ramen ($9.50). This spicy salted flavored soup ramen comes in a "larger" version ($13.80) too, but with flavored egg. Original Miso Ramen ($14.90), which they also have in mini version ($9.90) without flavored egg.Salmon Sashimi ($8.80). I like their salmon here, as I don't get the strong fishy taste as I get from other places.Black Pepper Chicken Wings ($8.80) with sweet shoyu sauce. Just the photo itself should be able to justify how tasty it is! I love tender and juicy chicken wings Mentaimayo Gyoza ($6.80 for 6 pieces). Salted cod roe pan-fried dumplings with spring onion and mayonnaise. Gyoza is not as crispy as I would love to have, and fillings are mostly spring onions. But it isn't dry at all... Plus point! The ramens are not really that delicious.. But their sides do deserve a thumbs up If I were to return again, I definitely will not skip the sides! For more details, please visit www.foodesteem.blogspot.sg/2014/03/menya-koji.html 繼續閱讀

I decided to give Menya Koji another chance as I was at Paragon and this was the only place without a queue. I have tried their ramen previously, which was a real disappointment. This time, I ordered their cha shu don, which comes in a mini bowl, and costs around $4.80; portion would be too small for a full meal, but alright if you are a small eater. Nothing special about the cha shu which was rather tasteless. I also got the soft shell crab which costs around $7+. It was very oily and portion was miserable. Soft shell crab from sushi tei/sakae is better. 繼續閱讀

Spicy miso cha shu ramen (about $14) & fried gyozaWent to try this out on a weekend as every other eatery was crowded with people and only daikouya had no queue. I love ramen but I could not finish this entire bowl because halfway through it, I got sick of the taste. It's called spicy miso cha shu ramen but I didn't find it spicy at all. The gyozas were quite oily and I didn't finish it too. I don't think it is worth the price that I am paying for. There was nothing to boast about its service too. 繼續閱讀

For a full review and more photos, visit http://makanarts.com/2013/05/20/daikokuya-ramen-dining-paragon-b1-47/Renamed as Menya Koji as of now, it continues to offer the same menu under Daikokuya. The Cha Shu Shoyu Ramen ($15.80++) was slightly more saltier than the other shoyu ramens I have eaten but it doesn’t affect the texture of the ramen. The Salmon Carpaccio ($8.80++) is a great thumbs up. The salmon blended with the Italian dressing is a great combination as the taste of the salmon along with the slightly spiced Italian dressing can be felt. The Agedashi Tofu ($4.80++) was not too bad, although nothing surprising also. The Tonkatsu Curry Rice ($15.80++) was not bad but the meat was rather stiff although it was crispy. The Shiratama Cream Zenzai ($5.20++) is a red bean dessert filled with glutinous rice balls topped with a vanilla ice cream, is recommended for anyone with a sweet tooth. Remember to mix a bit of ice cream with the red beans with every mouthful! 繼續閱讀
