Jia Xiang not only sell Kolo Mee but also Duck noodles!This time visit I tried to their different menu, Black Pepper Smoked Duck noodle.When the order came, the bowl of smoked duck noodles looked very oily.The Black Pepper Smoked Duck tasted oily also, with thick layer of fats under the skin and the meat was reddish in colour. Jia Xiang not only sell Kolo Mee but also Duck noodles!

This time visit I tried to their different menu, Black Pepper Smoked Duck noodle.

When the order came, the bowl of smoked duck noodles looked very oily.

The Black Pepper Smoked Duck tasted oily also, with thick layer of fats under the skin and the meat was reddish in colour. There was none black pepper taste.

The noodle used was Kolo mee, same as the orginal Kolo Mee.

Overall, the Black Pepper Smoked Duck noodle tasted too oily and would be better if they put lesser oil.

Jia Xiang Kolo Mee was quite famous after their commerical on Channel 8. Though, from the place where I stayed, there was no Jia Xiang outlet nearby and I have not been able to try their famous Sarawak noodles.Hence, there was one time I passby Marina Square and immediately went in to order their famous menu.Their orginal Kolo Mee was not cheap though, at $6.40.When the noodle came, I can smell the pork lard in the noodles. Hence, there was one time I passby Marina Square and immediately went in to order their famous menu.

Their orginal Kolo Mee was not cheap though, at $6.40.

When the noodle came, I can smell the pork lard in the noodles. I think they put quite a lot.

The outlook of the bowl of noodles looked like Bak Chor Mee.

The char siew was a bit dry though. The mince pork was nicely marinated with salty flavouring.

The noodles taste similar to half cooked instant noodles, very springy.

My parents decided to go and explore Marina Bay Sands. I suggested to dad to park our car at Marina Square and we could take a slow walk over to Marina Bay Sands via the Helix Bridge. As such, we also had our dinner here. We were not very hungry so we just settled at Jiaxiang Kuching Restaurant for a bowl of Kolo noodle each. For noodle, you either choose the normal Jiaxiang Kolo mee ($6) or their special Kolo mee ($8.90) which include abalone and fried wanton. I loved the texture of the noodle but hated it when I found a lump of noodles not loosened up properly in my bowl. I vaguely remember that I did have good memory of the kolo mee here and thus I recommended this to my parents. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the fried wantons dipped in mayo/ chilli sauce.

Not much crowd. Wood table and chairs. Decor in the shop make us look like in the 70s.

Price
Expensive due to air flown ingredients from sarawak. Portion of meal is small. However, i will still eat it once in a blue moon.

Recommendation / Tips
Portion is quite small. You may want to get a bigger bowl for bigger eaters.

Went there with friends for lunch after hanging around. I ordered Jia Xiang Mian. The portion is small and it not really enough for me. First bite, the noodles is perfect, and not soggy. It chewing and spongy. This kolo mee also comes with a generous serving of sweet char siew, healthy vegetables and pork dumplings that is fully stuffed. The sauce is special, a bit sour and fragrant. Add some chilli sauce into your noodles to enhance the flavours. Personally, I more prefer the traditional wanton
