Simply ordered their Szechuan noodles and Chinese stir-fried treasure, they were all generally presented nicely. Impressive hot sourly spicy noodles, it enlighten my taste bud. I was pleased to describe the experience of having soup bursting dumplings, colourful and pipping hot while it served. Warm juices exploded into my mouth, the filling was tangy and stuffed with awesome creative flavours. Instruction for eating was to bite a little, blow a lot, chew some and swallow it up. Rainbow Xiao Long Bao was the most interesting signature dish and worth a try, price was not that expensive too. I will definitely make my return and recommend it to my friend, pretty great feeling.

Paradise Dynasty 2 is a casual dining restaurant offering both northern and southern Chinese cuisine with a balanced mix of traditional taste to suit the traditionalist in every family while its refreshing take on delicacies like the Xiao Long Bao will help to cater to the taste of the younger generation. The decor is not as grand and "majestic" as the Ion branch, although it is still quite pleasantly decorated in a contemporary Oriental style that is inviting and comfortable enough for our purpose.

The four of us went slightly earlier, around 6pm, on a weekend evening before the dinnertime crowd started forming, and was rewarded with a seat almost right away. The place wasn't too noisy at this time which made it quite conducive to conversations around the table while enjoying our food, but it did get progressively noisy once the crowd started filing in.

There was a menu specially catered to those wanting to have their CNY dinner here, but after some consideration, we decided to skip it and just order all our favourite food ala carte from the menu instead. Nothing like sitting down with your family to have a wonderful meal with your favourite dishes!

Signature Dynasty Xiao Long Bao ($13.80)
You know this got to be good when even my mum who is a fussy eater gave it the thumb up. The skin was very delicate; it was strong enough to hold the ingredients inside but thin enough to break easily upon poking or biting to release the clear, savoury broth into the spoon. The meat was also quite tender and well seasoned. Flavours available were Ginseng, Foie Gras, Black Truffle, Cheesy, Crab Roe, Garlic, Szechuan and Original. These Xiao Long Bao were meant to be eaten in order so that the stronger flavours would not overshadow the more subtle ones, but we ordered it to share between the four of us so we just took and ate whatever each of us liked. it I enjoyed the Black Truffle and Cheese, while my mum adored the Original. Highly recommended!

Shanghai Fried Rice ($10.80)
Instead of white rice, we decided to get the Shanghai Fried Rice to go with the rest of our dishes and the portion was quite enough for 3-4 person. This was pretty fragrant and flavourful with small cubes of meat, seafood and fried egg in it. All of us gave it the thumb up and I love that it wasn't too oily too. If you're planning have a bowl of rice with your dishes, I'd recommend getting the Shanghai Fried Rice instead of white rice. It may cost more but at the very least, it'd make the meal more flavourful and enjoyable!

Drunken Chicken ($7.80)
This was served chilled and the aroma of the wine was quite strong. The chicken meat was silky smooth and succulent while the skin was quite fatty. However, the portion was pretty small, probably just sufficient for a person or two. My dad enjoyed this dish although the rest of us found it okay.

Sauteed Diced Chicken with Cashew Nuts and Dried Chilli ($10.80)
Now, this sweet and spicy dish was my favourite! The chicken cubes were very tender and the crunchy cashew nuts were a lovely complement to the chicken. The sauce was very tasty and I love the perfect combination of sweetness and spiciness in this dish. Compared to the Drunken Chicken, the portion was quite decent, although it still ended up insufficient for the four of us because all of us loved this dish and simply couldn't have enough of it!

Ma Po Tofu ($9.00)
Another family favourite, this was another spicy dish which impressed us with its burst of flavour in the mouth. The tofu cubes were very smooth and the combination together with the minced meat, black beans, and chilli was just awesome. Every mouthful was simply bursting in flavour and left us wanting more!

Deep Fried Pork Ribs with Garlic ($14.80)
This was the most expensive dish out of our entire order, but unfortunately, it was also the least popular among our group. The skin was crispy but other than that, all of us found it to be pretty tough to bite. We ended up not finishing this dish, which was kind of a waste. But it didn't really live up to expectations, especially my mum's who was the one who ordered this.

Chilled Aloe Vera and Osmanthus Jelly in Honey Lemon Juice ($3.50)
This light dessert didn't look impressive on first sight but it was quite decent in taste. There was a fair amount of aloe vera bits which was soothing on the throat, while the addition of the tangy lemon juice made this quite a refreshing dessert to have especially after the spicy and fried dishes we ordered.

Souffle Egg White Balls Stuffed with Red Bean and Banana ($4.80)
I was expecting something really sweet. To my surprise, this tasted lighter and wasn't as sweet as I had expected, but the icing sprinkled over the balls helped to add an additional touch of sweetness to it. The egg white balls were also quite soft although it'd have been nice to have more of the red bean and banana filling stuffed in it. My dad wasn't a fan of this dish but taste-wise, I found it to be pretty interesting and certainly wouldn't mind trying it again in future!

Pan Fried Pork Dumpling ($3.90)
This was a last minute order and took quite a while to be prepared. It was just lightly crispy at the base but the winning factor was the consistently chewy (or "QQ" as my mum puts it) texture of the skin, which we enjoyed. The meat was also pretty tender. My mum found it quite comparable to the Xiao Long Bao.

All in all, the Sauteed Diced Chicken with Cashew Nuts and Dried Chilli and Ma Po Tofu were the clear favourites for all of us and we agreed that these should come highly recommended. We also enjoyed the Shanghai Fried Rice, Signature Dynasty Xiao Long Bao and Pan Fried Pork Dumplings and found these to be worth ordering as well. My parents were not really fans of the desserts but I personally liked the Souffle Egg White Balls Stuffed with Red Bean and Banana although I'd love to have more stuffed filling in it (I'm just greedy that way). As for the Drunken Chicken and Chilled Aloe Vera and Osmanthus Jelly in Honey Lemon Juice, they were decent but the four of us were divided on the votes. On the other hand, we all agreed that we could have done without the Deep Fried Pork Ribs with Garlic.

One thing worth a special mention here was the service, which was really excellent and the staff were very attentive to our needs. Our cups of Tea ($1.00 per cup) were refilled promptly, frequently and always with a smile. During the time we were there, we were served by about 4-5 staff and all of them were polite and courteous. When the Pan Fried Pork Dumplings took too long to come, one of the staff was apologetic about it and took the initiative to check on its status with the kitchen without any prompting from us at all. It was pretty clear that they tried their best to make our dining experience an enjoyable and pleasant one, despite it being close to full house by the time we were almost done with our meal. Even my mum was suitably impressed. The only slight hiccup was the slightly long wait to pay at the counter near the entrance, as the cashier had an issue processing the payment of the customer before us, but overall, it didn't really marred our experience at Paradise Dynasty 2.

Our total bill came up to $97.93 for four person for a meal of 9 dishes and tea, so that was about $24.48 each. We thought this was really quite reasonable especially considering the quality of food and service we got here. We certainly left feeling like 'royals' after our little feast at Paradise Dynasty 2!

If you are member, you are entitled to this dish at a dollar with a minimum spending of $60. Eat it while it is hot. Tastes quite nice although it does not the crabmeat texture. Can be quite watery when cooled.

Service is quite fast with staff making recommendation about promotion, food are also served quite fast.

We were served by the staff and being placed at an outdoor seating which we can watch the passer-by.

Each table was served with menu and also the order list. We will have to tick our order on the form and called for the staff once we are done. The staff will repeat the order before proceeding the order to the kitchen. The serving time was less than 15 minutes which was quite fast. Thumbs up for the service at Causeway Point outlet.

I ordered Sliced Pork La Mian with pork bone soup @ S$9.80. The thickness of the sliced pork was very thin. It enhances the sweetness of the soup base as well. Loving the texture of the La Mian and it was Q.

Had CNY dinner here after a movie at Causeway Point. Surprisingly, this Chinese restaurant is open during this festive period.

The 5 of us were ushered to our seats immediately, even though the restaurant looked full. Once seated, the waitresses promptly approached us at least twice to take our orders, but we weren't quite ready then. The signature dish was a 8-pc multi-coloured Xiao Long Baos (4 different tastes; 2 of each colour) and was first on the menu. Without hesitation, we agreed to order that (the colours were very attractive!). We then decided on a communal dinner and ordered the following:

8-pc Multi-Coloured Xiao Long Baos (there is a name for it, which I didn't take notice of)
8 Xiao Long Baos, 5 of us. I only managed to taste the Crab Roe-flavoured one (orange-coloured). First off, the Xiao Long Baos looked a little bigger than that of Din Tai Fung. The skin was thin, yet it does not tear when I scoop up the Xiao Long Bao. Good! The broth within was flavourful! The only thing which left me bizarre was where the Crab Roe was (echoed by another of us too!), cos' I couldn't taste it at all!

There was a small note given to us when the Xiao Long Baos were served, where it recommends a numerical sequence in how the 4 different flavours should be tasted. However, we didn't order enough to follow through (not even being able to taste all 4 flavours!). There is also a separate set of instructions on how to eat Xiao Long Baos. Briefly, it requires one to scoop the Xiao Long Bao with a spoon. Chew off a bit of it, and suck the broth within, then eat all of it!

My way - Scoop, dip the Xiao Long Bao in vinegar (preferably drench it completely!), chew off a bit, slurp up the broth in the spoon (the broth is hot, mind you!), then eat the Xiao Long Bao as a whole!

Another challenging way - Scoop, dip in vinegar, dunk the whole Xiao Long Bao in your mouth and let the hot broth burn your mouth! Scalding Thrill! Haha!

Stir-Fried Spinach with Garlic
Good! Spinach was soft. No rave about it, though it was a welcoming side dish to all the festive foods we have been indulging in.

Scrambled Egg with Fish and Scallops
We ordered this cos' we have never seen a scrambled egg, with its egg yolk not scrambled in! Haha! Turned out it looked like Mapo Tofu with fish meat and scallops! The egg yolk was raw in the middle. Not as special as we thought it to be!

Drunken Chicken
This was the best side dish we ordered (it was meant to be an appetiser). I never really liked this dish as the ones I have tried before were served cold and the chicken was a little raw. This one brought back my confidence! The chicken was cooked just right, with the wine all soaked in. The wine was rather strong! My nostrils flared the moment I tasted the chicken! Absolutely good!!!

Shanghai Fried Rice
No shout about this dish. It doesn't seem to have enough "wok-hei". Not the best fried rice I've eaten thus far.

Yangzhou Fried Rice
Same comments above, though the fried rice above tasted better (probably due to the soy sauce)

The service here is good, as the waitresses were really efficient. They were all busy serving customers, and we didn't need to request for a tea re-fill as they would do it promptly. What also captured my attention was that some of the waitresses were senior folks - very polite ones! Their good service warmed my heart and made the food tasted better!

As for the signature dish - Xiao Long Baos, I'd choose to go to Din Tai Fung. But since the prices fall in the range of $10-$20 here, coupled with good service, I would want to dine at this place again, and probably give a go at their special menus.

Total Cost: $83 for 5 pax

Radish Pastry (3 pieces) - $4.80

A must try everytime i come to paradise dynasty! (: I love how this pastry is made, soft and hot on the inside and crispy on the outside. Luckily for me, nothing went wrong this time! So i was able to enjoy this dish! (: I went to a restaurant elsewhere to other time and learnt that this pastry is difficult to make as they have to do it on the spot, making the waiting time longer (and some customers can't wait that time). The skin has to be very crispy and there were many different layers, so it's a very tedious dish to make. BUT YAY!! I get to eat it this time!

Ma Po Tofu - $9.00

The Ma Po tofu wasn't that spicy even though there were many chili bits in it. Tofu was cut up in uniform sizes and it was soft and bouncy. Nice to sink your teeth into. The portion of minced meat was very generous too. Pretty good dish.

Sauteed Australian Lettuce - $11.80

Funny how this vegetable is so expensive for a few strands! My mom wanted to order this for us to try as it was suppose to have a tinge of bitterness. But it didn't at all. It was quite sweet in fact, although i felt it was a little oily. ):

Overall, the dishes were pretty good! I enjoyed this branch a lot as the waiters were not so vocal, so they dont shout at the top of their voices everytime a customer comes in, keeping it relatively peaceful.
Service was very fast as usual and dishes were served very promptly not long after we ordered (other than the pastry, which was understandable)

Tip: Go to the restaurant earlier so that you don't have to wait very long for a table as it gets pretty busy during peak hours.

Three of us decided to check out the new Paradise Dynasty Restaurant on Level 5 of Causeway Point to beat the Monday blues. We were given a queue no but our table was ready in 5 minutes so I guess it is their procedure. I recalled there was a resident tea master at their flagship restaurant at Ion Orchard Level 5 when we dined there last year who would serve tea using a copper kettle with a very long spout. There is no tea master at work here in Causeway Point. It was just as well since we didn't have to wait for one tea master to do his rounds, hot Pu Er tea was served immediately once we were seated, and our cups were promptly topped up by servers throughout our meal.

Everything in the glossy menu looked temptingly delicious so we decided to stick to their signature rainbow dumplings which has one of each of their 8 types of soupy dumplings served in a wicker basket ($13.80++). We ordered three portions ~ one for each of us, plus one portion of their LaMian with Preserved Vegetables & Shredded Pork in Pork Bone Soup ($8.00++) for sharing. The noodles arrived first in a huge bowl; the serving is easily double the size of the portions served at Din Tai Fung. The hand pulled La Mian was freshly made in the show kitchen and its texture was excellent, smooth & absorbent of the flavoursome pork bone stock that it had been immersed in. I must say the kitchen crew here has been really generous with the toppings - we had plenty of shredded vegetables, shredded bamboo shoots and strips of lean pork floating in the broth, plus half an onsen egg. Great value. We slurped up the noodles and soup happily & half way through, a chef emerged from the kitchen with our piping hot wicker baskets of soupy dumplings.

Every morsel of the soupy dumplings was pure pleasure. The dumpling skin was thin & elastic so it did not break when lifted with chopsticks. Each dumpling was bursting with meat juices & robust tasting soup. Start with the original flavour (off white colour) and leave the dumplings with the strongest flavours till the last ( the grey coloured garlic flavour & the pink coloured xxx spicy szechuan chilli flavour). My favourite ones are the truffle (black coloured dumpling), fois grais (beige dumpling) & ginseng dumpling (pale green coloured dumpling). I prefer Paradise Dynasty's soupy dumplings to those served at Din Tai Fung's restaurants in Singapore partly because the dumplings here contain more soup per mouthful & partly because the minced pork filling is leaner without any greasy aftertaste. I think Crystal Jade & Din Tai Fung both use a larger proportion of fatty pork in their dumpling filling so there is a strong porky aftertaste whenever I eat their soupy dumplings.

We ordered the Egg White Souffle Balls ($4.80++ for 3 pcs) which were quite good, but not the best to be found locally. The souffle was light as it should be but there was too little mashed red bean filling inside so the souffle ball tasted rather bland. Besides a light fluffy texture, an A version of this dessert should strike a fine balance between the unsweetened egg white & the sweetened red bean filling. Our bill of $68 works out to $22.70 per person which is a fair price to pay for innovative gourmet soupy dumplings whose taste & texture are comparable & imho superior to those served at Din Tai Fung in Singapore (I think there is a big gap in taste & service quality between DTF outlets here & those in Taipei). Great food & affable service will beckon us back to Paradise Dynasty 2 at Causeway Point which does not have the patience-testing waiting time at its flagship restaurant in Ion.
