I wanted to eat chee cheong fun but there wasn't any selling in the whole of Food Republic so I thought char kway teow is a good substitute. The wokhei fragrance filled the atmosphere near the stall so I was attracted to it. Bought a takeaway from this stall. My take on it: The portion is pretty large for the smallest packet they had available. The first few mouthfuls were delicious and generally reached my expectations. However, it got really oily after a while and not very nice. Maybe I should

My take on it: The portion is pretty large for the smallest packet they had available. The first few mouthfuls were delicious and generally reached my expectations. However, it got really oily after a while and not very nice. Maybe I should have gotten a lime to defuse the jelat taste in my mouth, but I probably wouldn't be trying it again. Good enough to fill your stomach but will not make the cut if you're looking for a good char kway teow.

There is a stall at Food Republic serving hokkien mee and fried char kway teow. The picture seen above is the serving size for a plate of char kway teow ($4). If you are feeling super hungry there are the $6 and $7 portion size too. However the $4 in my opinion is more than enough to fill me up. In fact i think its possible to share it with someone else.I love how the food is served quite like the olden times. The noodles are passable and it helps that its cooked on the spot.

My favourite Singaporean dish is.. hands down..Hokkien Mee. So whenever I'm craving for it, I just head to the Food Republic at Wisma Atria. For a food court stall in Orchard, I must say that the quality is pretty awesome and is at par with most hawker centres.Queue here can get pretty long, so I was lucky that when I got there, the uncle just finished one big batch of hokkien mee. Despite the long line, I got my order pretty quickly. I chose the smaller portion which cost $5.50; but it was big

Queue here can get pretty long, so I was lucky that when I got there, the uncle just finished one big batch of hokkien mee. Despite the long line, I got my order pretty quickly. I chose the smaller portion which cost $5.50; but it was big enough for 2 people.

The hokkien mee's quality remained consistent. I loved how the rich seafood broth just coated the yellow noodles. The prawns and squids were also generously added. It was a very filling and satisfying lunch.
